I was wondering what you drove before that you tinted the whole front window? As far as the HUD goes you will have to let us know if it works or not, I don't know of anyone that has done that to a Vette.

Here in Jersey you will get stopped every 10 feet. That doesn't float even in the sun belt. These cars attract enough attention from LEOs. THEIR safety is the reason for the tint issue, NOT ours. Consequently they have strong interest in violations. I would be surprised to hear of someone who could answer your HUD question from actual experience. But when you do get an answer, post your findings for future folks to find it in search.
It's not a great idea. Most of us don't have great accuity in our peripheral vision. It'll work fine during the day. No different to wearing sunglasses. At night you'll be missing definition. The things which are harder to spot in low light conditions will be even harder to see. Lecture over
In terms of the HUD it will reduce the transmissivity of the windscreen so the symbology will actually display brighter. You just see less beyond the symbology as you'll be more focussed on the closer image unless you wind it back.
I used to fly fighters so I've used HUDs in the past. We didn't tint the front screen
D-RyaN - If you are in greenville, SC, and have the car registered in SC, here is the vehicle code for windshield tinting - Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
it is leagal in WA to tint your whole front window up to 35%. i have 5%back 15% sides and 35% front windsheild. looks awsome you cant even tell its tinted ( one peice of tint) unless your realy paying attention when the windows are down.also hold out the heat very well. no prob. with the hud

not worried about the tint on the windshield, like ive said ive had cars with the front tinted its not that bad, only differnce you can really notice is it makes headlights and street lights a bit blurry and of course u can tell its darker. its not gonna be a dark percent tint at all my other cars have 45% on it, basicly just lets less light in.
i know its not legal.
deegee thanks for the reply gives me a idea on what it will be.
