this is my second car with Kumhos. I took a chance with the first set, no regrets so went with them on the C5, run flats. still no regrets...... can't beat the price
I've purchased three sets of Kumhos. Had no concerns on the ones I had installed on my blowned Silverado nor the ones on my wife's PT Cruiser. However, I am totally disatisfied with the ECSTA MX I have on the Vette. I yr and 8,000 miles later 1/2 the tread is gone. The tires are noisy and have little grip in the wet. I hydroplaned about 20 feet in the rain last Thursday. Good dry weather adhesion and does a good smokey burnout..... However I'm seriously considering tossing them out and getting Nitos. Hydroplaning was the killer for me.
The MXs finished dead last in Car & Driver's last super tire test. Stay away from most of the low-dollar tires. The Goodyear GSD3s, Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s and BF Goodrich KDW 2s are much better tires, dry or wet.
Kumho Ecsta XRP RUN FLATS (won't leave home without them). Least expensive run flats I could find. Much better grip than my Michelin Pilot Sport A/S run flats, less noisy. I love them.
I have the Kumho Ecsta ASX on my '99 FRC (stock sized). The best 60 ft I could get was a 2.08sec. I guess they're ok, but I think I could do better with a summer only tire like a BFG KDW or such. As for daily driving, they're fine. Not too loud, and the handling and wear aren't bad..
All-in-all, not a bad tire, but may try something different next time...

I wouldn't put a whole lot of faith in anything those goobers at C&D have to say. here's a sample of their analysis
Both my dad and I are running Kuhmo runflats. My vette is a daily driver and I have driven in the rain multiple times-many times it was pouring, and I have had NO issues. With any tire you just need to learn when to keep your foot out of the gas and you will be fine.
I had Kumho Ecsta MX non-runflats on my last C5. Ran it in many weather conditions. Performed great. I just ordered a set of Kumhos for the Wifey's Murano.
There are soo many opinons on tires out there. I have no clue what I am going to buy next! I looked at getting the KUHMOs, my friends run them on their 350zs'. I just hate to go back to the tireshop if I buy the Kuhmo. They gave me alot of crap running a non american tire on a corvette last time I was there.
I have Michelin AS ZPs on the Vette. Great tire way better than stock but at the top end of the price range
I have Kumho Ecsta MXs on the Golf and my son has them on his Camaro. Great tires for the price. Good traction and handling but softer so they wear quicker. The Golf has about 12k miles on them and they are probably 2/3 worn. It's not driven particularly hard (other than trying to get a 1.4 engine to accelerate). The Camaro has been off the road for a while so they only have a few k on those. It's definitely more grippy but with the wider tires over stock it now tramlines much more. I preferred stock but he's happy with them.
Overall the Kumho's are cheap to buy but may cost nearly as much in the long run.
And that just about sums it up, kiddies.....................
My post's based on driving on 2 sets of Kumhos. All I can say is if they wear quickly on a 1.4 Golf you could reasonably expect a Vette to be even harder. I'm convinced. Good tires but soft.
