I replaced my battery sometime ago thinking I had a bad battery. After buying the new battery if I let the car set for a few days the car wouldn't start.
I also noticed when driving the car that the volts would fluctuate somewhat on the meter. I did the "Bill Curlee" test and had no drain so I figured it was the alternator. I checked for bad grounds and they were fine, then finally I thought I might check the plug on the alternator so I cleaned it up and afterwards noticed that the meter stayed at around 14v without fluctuating like before. Haven't had a problem with the battery since and the car started right up this morning after sitting for several days in very cold temps. For those of you having battery problems you might want to check this out before you spring for a new battery or alternator.
