Default Do you slam it?

My friend has an 88 Lotus...(6000K on it) and when he let me take it he showed me that if I needed to lift and then close the hood I was to lower it and then press it down where the latches are...my vette seems to have to be slammed to close so just wondering about everyone else. Oh by the way I think that friend would be easily talked into selling that Red Lotus if anyone is interested...he hardly uses it at all!

Not a slam but more like a push from a foot or so.

There was already a post on here a couple of weeks ago about this exact issue. It seemed as though the average "drop height" was 12-18"

I have a MCM carbon fiber hood. No slamming here! I close the hood and then push down on each side and it closes just fine.

Default depends on what you call slamming it

Wow. I started reading this thread because I thought it was asking about slamming the accelerator.

In that case, my answer would be, Yes, I do slam it on occasion.

I drop it from about 12 inches, pressing down over the latches will leaves a big handprint on a freshly detailed hood. I suppose there are those that close their hoods with a clean microfiber in their hands.....

It won't break if you drop it from a reasonable distance, I've been doing this was for over four years with no detrimental results. Do whatever makes you happy, okay?

Happy has nothing to do with it....I just want it to close and latch but the "Lotus" method does not seem to work and the "Drop" sometimes fails also. I was just afraid of cracks with a semi mild "slam"

Nope I just set it down and press where the latches are.

At the factory though they drop them from a foot above.

I would have to say I let mine go from about 6 to 8 inches and it closes just fine.

I lower mine completely and press at the latch locations on both sides, you should not have to drop it even 12".

Honestly? I know this sounds ****, but I set it down, grab a micro-fiber towel out of my rear compartment (aka my detailing kit) and lightly close each latch individually.

It's my baby ya know!
