Average mileage for trade in purposes would be 150,000 miles.

What failed on the tranny? Thanks for info.

Ok, first info to understand is that this '99 was supposed to have a Tremec in it, but the dealer found a BorgWarner. I guess I got a leftover when it was built at the factory. First failure was gears grinding. Several synchros and a couple of gears were replaced at the dealer and at a fairly high cost. Second failure was only like 2 months later when a loud click started happening only in 5th or 6th gear and only when taking my foot off the gas. That ended up being worn out splines on the main shaft...and another very large expense. Lastly in 2006, I had decided to replace the trans fluid with Mobil1 tranny fluid. Mistake on my part. It started jumping out of reverse. Progressively it got worse till it was a rather serious problem. That ended up being the BorgWarner had some kind of cardboard bushings in it which when using ATF is not an issue. BUT, with Mobil1 synthetic fluid, those bushings didn't like it and came apart or dissolved to some extent. The resulting damage to the components was beyond the cost to buuy a new transmission, which I did at extreme cost to me.
The other small things, headlamp controller, headlamp switch, HUD, spark plug wires twice, clutch x 3, shocks x 3, rear wheel hubs(3 weeks ago), battery x 3, rt headlamp motor, DIC controller.
The only issue at this moment pending parts arrival is one lamp burnt out on the HUD controller. Lamps coming now for that. Needs paint too on the front end due to rock pits...a gazzillion of those!
During the lifter issue, I replaced the valve springs, guides, rods and had the head valve seats checked while the guides were being done. The place messed up the valve stem seals that were also replaced, but later with smoke coming out of the exhaust, had to replace them a second time.
This all sounds like a lot, but when you put it all into the proper perspective, its not really a lot considering the age and miles on the car. I'm the only owner of the car and its been my daily driver with a minimum of 54 miles one-way to work and for two years, it was 91 miles one-way.
I've said it lots of times in here...nothing lasts forever. If anyone wishes to get to these kind of miles, you must fix things as they happen rather than waiting for them to build up to the point where it becomes too costly. A little here and there, will take care of it.

Thanks Degrant.

I agree the repairs aren't bad considering 300,000+ miles on a high performance car, although the tranny issues were a bit much. They must have occured after warranty.

70000 on my 98. Runs great, no leaks, no smoke, no squeaks, still smells like new inside. Like others have said, 'just broken in'

76k on my '00 FRC.
Still tight, runs perfect, smells like new, never modded and no issues what so ever. No rain, never in sun for a long time, stays in garage with cover and never abused. Yes I drive it but not like I stole it.
61k on a 98......just broke in.

Not high at all, I have 74k on my 01 Z. I drive it hard and no problems other than the hub bearing and my reverse which will be fixed this winter when I replace my clutch.

According to wiki.answers.com, the average miles driven by Americans per year is 15,000.

I'd say you're a little below that average at 6,100 miles per year!
