Default Ok New to C5 question.

Went to a car meeting tonight, took the 98 since it was nice out. On the way home I looked down at the gauges and instead of my mileage it told me "Service Engine Soon" . All gauges read fine. Does the C5 sinmply put that message in the info center or will it also trip a CE light if its throwing codes? It needs an oil change but I am planning several other things, maybe even brakes since the rotors seem a little warped tonight, so I have been waiting.

The car has approx 30,5xx miles currently.

You have something that needs attention. A software error code has been thrown. Here is a link to a good site for help with info on how to check the codes and see what they mean. Other very useful information can be found there as well.

Good luck and keep us posted.

When you check it'll cycle through the codes. Some will have H (history). these are problems that occurred but have cleared. The one thts causing the Service Engine light will have C after it (current).
