I'd love to tell you why it happened, but I have no idea. All i know is when I pluged in one to test it and turned on the car, all the gauge lights started flashing irraticaly. Almost like my car was posessed.
I exrocized the bulb and replaced it with the standard LED tower 3157 I was using before and the problem went away.
Thanks, I was going to order the SMT bulbs. I'll just go with the tower bulbs.
One more question. I noticed that AutoIllumination has different sizes on the 194 bulbs. Does anyone out there know if there is a bulb size restriction with the smaller bulbs in the front corners?
most of the autolumination bulbs will work. I'm using the "superstar" bulbs myself.
I think the only ones that won't fit are the "tower" series and 5-LED matrix. Everything else should fit and work well. The "Superstar" and Supernova bulbs would be perfect.
they are white when the parking or headlights are ON.
they are amber when the blinkers are activated in either mode.
Thanks Jason...sounds pretty cool...guess will break down and order a couple then. The small bulb on each side, 194's, are you using LED ones there as well, and if so which ones are you running?
Well, I ended up with the 20 LED Tower II Switchbacks and the Amber SMT Tower III 194's. I'll post pictures when I install, probably in March or so. Thanks to Richard from Corvette Enhancements and Chris at AutoIllumination for your help!!
yes, i was thinking that they had sent me the wrong bulbs because when i fired up the car i was expecting to see WHITE drls with the lights off.
the only time they are white is when the parking lights or headlights are on. they are amber when in daylight driving mode. the LEDs still look very cool in amber, especially with the clear corner lenses.
