Default Battery tender

Question.....Do I really need a battery tender/trickle charger if I drive my car twice/three times a week? Looking at the charger that Chip sells for my dad (he drives his once/twice every 3 weeks) and maybe for me, but I drive mine every chance I get.

I'd say not if it comes out that often. I never bothered when mine was a DD even when it sat in the garage for a week when I was away on business.

Mind you in the heat of the Vegas Summer I wouldn't expect the battery to last much longer than average. 125 degrees killed my OEM battery after only 8k miles On second thoughts it was just an AC Delco

I hook mine up if its going to sit longer than a week

One for your Dad will do I'd love to sell you two, but if you drive it 2-3 times a week, I would think you would be fine for your car

Peace
Chip

They are good and it does as it says it TENDS the battery and keeps the charge good!

Our Vettes for some reason or another will draw juice when they sit and a tender is a good idea!

Thanks,Matt

Driving 2 or 3 times a week should be enough to keep your battery fresh as long as they are not short drives. Short drives may not keep it in tip top condition.

Just installed a battery butler on mine last week. Seems to be fine. My battery, Red Top Optima usually goes dead in 4 weeks. I don't drive it too much.

I only drive mine two or three times a week. Because they are usually short drives, I keep the battery on a "tender" in between.

You could use the supplied alligator clamps or just buy the connector that plugs into the auxilliary power supply in the center console. Much easier than having to open and close the hood all the time.

Going to talk my dad into getting your charger. He goes out of town for a stretch and would not let me run his vert while away! By the way, how easy is it to install and how safe? I do not want to blow up the garage. I have seen others for cheaper, but I think I will persuade him to get yours.

If you drive it that often, then you probably don't need one. I use a Battery Tender Plus since I do not drive my car all that often.
