The passenger door lock was deleted in either 1999 or 2000. Why not park car in the garage and exit via the drivers side vs. passenger side? or, leave the hood unlatched, and put a disconnect switch on the battery to prevent it from running down.
If you had a couple of inches, you could have popped the hood with a bent wire, and hooked up a battery charger, but having to move the car with a jack isn't a real big deal, glad you got thru it!

I use a battery tender, but I generally keep the drivers window down even in the summer. If your not driving much just release the hood. so you can get at the battery any time.
