When I had the LG Pros installed, I also did the "cool socks". I don't think they are actually required but I did it anyway. I see them as cheap insurance.
sounds more like a bad wire than just the fact that it was arching to the plate....You CAN get bad NEW wires from time to time...
3 of them? The odds of that are worse than winning the Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes. Check out the link I posted and look how many times it has happend on the F-body board.
Stick with OEM wires... they support over 1000 horses w/o issue. Plus, they have factory metal shields and they "click" on more positively than anything else out there.
I've been running oem wires for 80,000 miles (all my car's life) and had been running HPDEs with it for the past 5 years.
My Kooks headers don't come anywhere close to the wires so I haven't been running any kool sox type protector. That said, I have seen that on LGMs one of the primaries can almost touch the wire so it would offer piece of mind so you can drive and forget about it.

Right now I have the OEM wires with metal shields at the plugs but was thinking about the MSD Plug wires, no headers, YET...but in the future. Going to MSD I'll probably have to get the metal shields, plus socks? Not sure yet, but I'll be looking at it soon.
My advice is to NOT use the metal shields. I have seen numerous cases of the metal shields causing a cylinder to misfire because the spark would come through the jacket and arc to the shield. I can not explain why they would do that because they are not grounded. Never-the-less I have seen the little blue arc with my own eyes. I took the shields off and it ran perfect. I would highly advise using something like firesleeves.
Not grounded you say? How are they mounted? Just curious and too late tonight to go raise the hood and look at mine. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I've heard the good virtues of stock wires here on CF before.

Thanks for that advice. I'm staying with the OEM's for now but maybe in a couple/three months I may be looking at headers, so just thinking out loud about the MSD's. My brother has had Corvette's longer than me, so I'l talk with him also when that time comes.
