Double din mod complete. Materials, process and pics inside
A week or so ago I posted a thread about my mod process for my radio bezel. When I had the NAV installed, the guys did an "OK" job but I always vowed I would undertake to try and make it look like the unit belonged there all along.
Here's what the original install looked like....
I was trying to figure out how I could get the corners rounded and still keep a strait edge. Happen to stumble upon some PVC pipe and got an idea to use that as my base...
Then I started to mold it in with good ol' fashion bondo...
Then after a few skim coats and lots of sanding, I shot it with primer...
Then after more sanding, I shot it some texture paint from SEM, followed by a light sanding with 400 paper to smooth it out a bit and then shot it with Corvette America interior black dye
Finished product before install...
Installed pic...
Haven't buffed it out or anything so it still looks a little "grey" in comparison to the rest of the interior but thats just a matter of detailing.
Just wanted to post in case some one else was thinking of this...my small way of giving back for all the great ideas I've gotten off this Forum

That tunred out great Looks so much better than it did before. Great job on the bezel. On mine i put sprayed some clear on it and it darkend the look a little and made a big difference. Look great

Great tip...thanks. What kind of clear did you use and was it like a satin finish?
