My first ticket I got was 55 in a 45, the cop pulls me over and says yea this car is fast but I don’t see a girl in the passenger seat that your trying to impress. Im not impressed, im sure the people on the road are not impressed. Than he asks whos car is this ( I was 18 at the time) I said its mine sir. And he checks my registration and sees my brothers name on it and asks why its on there and I told him that when I bought the car I had no credit so I had to put his name on the registration as well. And then he asks me what my brother would think if he knew that I was speeding in his car? And I told him “well its my car so I don’t think he would mind” but he didn’t think that was funny and wrote me the largest ticket he could.
I tried to outrun one once on the highway. I kept speeding up and he kept catching up. Down the road, on and on. Finally, after about 10 nerve wracking minutes of this I gave in and pulled over.
As I watched him in the mirror walk up you could tell he was pumped and ready for anything. It was a nice day and the top was down and when he got up to my car he just starts laying into me about speed, safety, being an idiot, etc.
When he finished, I looked at him and calmly said, "I'm really sorry, you see my wife left me for a cop last month, and I though you were him trying to give her back".
you owe me a new laptop! i spit water all over my monitor!!!! PRICELESS!
I once got a ticket for 35mph in a 30mph zone, the cop thanked me for being so polite and understanding. He still gave me a ticket, but thanked me for being so polite and understanding!!!!!!
I guess they needed the money!!!!
i got a ticket for 41 in a 30. when he came back and gave me the ticket, he told me i was lucky that he didn't write me for my loud exhaust, bald tires, tints, no front plate....etc. I would have RATHER had those! they aren't moving violations!
1. Courtesy is contagious. Extremely important.
2. LEO is out there putting his/her life on the line and doing a job.
3. Most are decent just like most of us.
4. There are a small number who ???
If I get a ticket tomorrow, I will pretend that it is for the 10,000 times that I should have gotten a ticket.

Thanks alot!!! I just spit coffee all over my computer laughing so hard!
I got pulled over for doing 84 in a 55 and got a ticket and her phone number out of it
Did she handcuff you?
Here's my LEO breakdown:
(neighborhood) Constable: 3x warning (I'm guilty of california stops)
Houston PD: ticket. (plus e was grumpy in general)
Shenendoah PD: ticket (you don't get warnings in Shenendoah)
Harris County Sheriff: warning (new road with no speed limit posted)
Texas State Trooper: warning (plus we yakked about my car )
Im never more that ten over the limit..ten seems to be the "Allowable" limit here..UNLESS..your a bone head or done something really bad
Twenty over and they HAVE to give a citation...
Don't do ten over in S.C. they will pull you over for 1 MPH in that great state.Got pulled over twice in 1yr. I'm a retired LEO and the SCHP told me they are tring to keep highway deaths down because they are 3rd in the nation for Highway deaths.
Here's mine (posted a few times, but I still think it's funny):
Driving to the airport to pick up my wife (I'm late). Doing maybe 60 in a 45. I'm in uniform. Cop pulls me over. I'm thinking, ok, maybe he'll give me a break because I'm in uniform. He does his spiel - I open my wallet - military ID on top (saved me before by just having it on top for when I'm not in uniform) - he's not biting -- flipping to my DL on the bottom and he sees my Harley-Davidson Visa. He says "Oh, you're a Harley rider? Well have a nice day!" And I did!
IN 45 years of driving muscles cars and hot rods, I have never recieved a ticket... I have been stopped a dozen times, but always given a break.
I think my demenor , and the fact that most police like nice, clean, fast, good sounding cars, had a whole lot to do with that... Probobly 5 of the times I was stopped was just so the cop could take a look at my car...this goes back 45 years, back in the late fifties and early 60's you didn't see too many Corvettes on the road.

That's quite a record. A good one at that. Bill, I hope you had a genuine, well finished, exotic piece of "wood" to knock on, making a statement like that.

Have a good one, Tom

I don't know what other states do, but here are the infractions NM LEO's are looking for.
In the state of New Mexico, being convicted of certain traffic violations can result in the Motor Vehicle Division adding points to your driving record. The amount of points depends on the infraction.
If you receive 12 points within a year, your driver's license will be suspended for one year. It is also possible to have your license revoked if you accumulate fewer than 12 points, should a municipal or magistrate judge order it.
Traffic violations that add points to your record include:
* Speeding
* Contest racing
* Failure to signal
* Refusing to obey signals
* Reckless driving
* Failure to yield
* Making an improper turn
I am sure each point also adds $100 to your insurance premium too.
There are some good encounters in this thread! It seems they appreciate real talk. From what I have seen and heard.
I haven't had a speeding ticket since joining the fire dept. I have gotten pulled over but when the LEO sees the Firefighter plates. They end up making small talk and demanding I invite them up to the firehouse for eats! A little professional courtesy...
i have been driving since i was 15.5 and now i am 40. in all of those years at age 16 i was pulled over and ticked for pulling a u turn in dc. about 4 months ago on one of the back roads i travel every day i was moving along at 58 in a 35. it was 11:00 am, no busses (already picked kids up)_ no commuters- they were at work... just me rolling along. by the time i saw the officer, i was dead...he nailed me..no way i could drop speed ( i was in my explorer not my vette) i just slowed and pulled over. I knew he had me dead to rights...i waited and about 30 seconds later i see him start the car pull a u turn and come up behind me and turn on the lights. by the time he came over to the door i already had my license/ insurance/registration in my left hand. he said you know why i pulled you over... i responded i knew i was speeding that is why i just pulled over when i saw you and our eyes met. he asked what was the hurry, i told him i am on the way to a dr.'s apt and was running late. i showed him the mapquest directions along with the dr. name and address i had printed ( no reason to lie) i also told him in 24 years of driving i have had a clean record no tickets, no warnings, nothing. he goes to his car and after about 4-5 minutes says " your perfect record is still in tact... lets just slow it down" i thanked him and was on my way. people need to remember officers are there to protect and serve..he/they are doing their jobs...i had already accepted the fact when i pulled over i was getting a ticket, and because of my attitude, treatment to his questions and honest + track record, he let me go...
