Courtesy is important, but I'm 24 and older than the CHP officer that pulled me over. When he says, damn, you are barely older than me and drive this?

Yea, I got that ticket.

I'm usually too busy crapping my pants to be polite. Cops around here are mean.

84 on a 55 zone. A week after I bought my vette $338 ticket. That ******* did not even ask me anything. I told him I just moved here to this state (which was true, AZ had much higher speed limits on freeways) and I just bought the car and requested him to let me go with a warning. Nope ... "84 in this weather, you are definitely getting a ticket". It was raining and 3 am with no traffic.

Have to go to the court on Thursday.

Well I usually start off polite and try to be courteous. However if they are ****** to me I return the favor. I got pulled over once for doing a 50 ft burnout in front of one and didn't get a ticket. Lol, I didn't see him and when he pulled me over he asked kinda laughing what the hell were you doing back there. I apologized and said just showing off and he laughed and said I had to pull you over (there were about 50 cars in the parking lot where he was and they all looked at them when I did it) So he said he had no choice, but he told me slow it down and just go home. So I said thanks and went home

It doesn't always work... I got a ticket for 55 in a 45 last year comming back from the Cruise in. I was nice and polite. It sucked I could see the 55 mph sign less than 50 " from my car.... Top down and the cop says to me hafter he hans me the ticket... " Better hurry home it looks like rain.... Arrrrggghhh, like I didn't know that!

Then I get yanked over again last month... LEO asks me "Are you in a hurry?" I said nope had the cruise set at 73. He said it's 55 in a construction zone. I told him there were no signs indicating that. (they all had bags over them yet.)

Back to the car we go.... He runs my tainted license history. asks me about each infraction. I answer them all truthfully. He tells me that the ticket cost is $435.00 but today he is giving me a big break because I pulled over right away and was upfront and honest with him.

and the moral of this story???

Your at their mercy..... what's the point in lying or being smart. They can get that for free, but they don't have to return that freedom if they don't choose too.

I tried to outrun one once on the highway. I kept speeding up and he kept catching up. Down the road, on and on. Finally, after about 10 nerve wracking minutes of this I gave in and pulled over.

As I watched him in the mirror walk up you could tell he was pumped and ready for anything. It was a nice day and the top was down and when he got up to my car he just starts laying into me about speed, safety, being an idiot, etc.

When he finished, I looked at him and calmly said, "I'm really sorry, you see my wife left me for a cop last month, and I though you were him trying to give her back".

If that car in your Avatar is you, I think you were driving in front of my buddy a week or 2 ago. He called me asking where I was going, swearing up and down he was driving behind me. I told him that was kinda weird seeing as how my car was in the garage

You can't go wrong by being courteous. Any other approach will just pizz the LEO off.

I have never got a ticket in any of my Vettes (touch wood), but got pulled over twice for speeding in my last one. I wasn't going too much over the limit and the first time the officer just wanted to have a look at my car, and the second, he had a report of a stolen white Vette; mine was yellow .

Many years ago we were in Pennsylvania on our way home to New York. It was late at night and my friend Pat was driving. We get pulled over.
Officer...License, registration and insurance card. Do you know why I pulled you over?
Pat.......No, officer I don't.
Officer...Well, you have a tail light out and you were speeding.
Pat........I wasn't speeding
Officer....(looks past Pat and asks me) Was he speeding?
Me.........Yeah, he was speeding.
Pat........(looked at me in disbelief)
Officer...Get that tail light fixed and slow down.

Darrell G, your techniques work and have gotten me out of trouble plenty of times. Most people seem to forget LEO's are human just like us and are just doing their jobs.
