Default Red Devil Brakes DO NOT USE

Not sure where to put this so I figured general was better than autoxing.

I purchased both front and rear calipers last year from Red Devil. Cost was a little over $3,000. The order was taken on August 6th and I just said I am done today. As you can see it has been quite some time, and I have still not been able to use their Calipers.

It appears that the only pads that will work with their calipers is theirs. If you have pads that you use, and they work, you are out of luck.

I purchased the calipers with the instruction that they would work with other pads. A person that worked there even told me that based on what I was currently using, what pads to buy. I purchased two sets at over $300 per set. I took the car to the shop, had the calipers and rotors removed, then when the pads came in, found out they did not work. Slap everything back on, to be ready for the races, pay the shop, back to where I was.

Call the shop and tell them what happened and they said, oh those will not work, you have to get these ones. Call the company get one set at over $300. Take the car to the shop everything pulled off, then when the pads come in guess what, they do not work. Put everything back, pay the shop bill, go to the races.

Call the company and they then tell me that unless you use their pads the other pads are too thick and have to be cut down.

Well, I used what I had at nationals and faced the problem in December. The owner Jerry told me that if I sent him the pads he would cut them down for me, at no charge and send them right back. Well the current pads were not only too thick but would bind on the end. I sent the pads to the company in early December. Now January 30th, after three calls and no returns I got ahold of Harley. He is the guy that would be doing the work. He told me he has been very busy and only got them two weeks ago. He told me he could not say when they would be done because he was so busy. However he would see if he could fit them in at some point.

Now knowing that the company had the pads for about a month, and I would have to deal with this each time I purchase pads, I told Harley I was done. Now he said he would be happy to get them done as soon as possible and get them back. Well I am done and I want nothing to do with the company. When I speak to the owner Jerry and he tells me to just send my pads and he will fix them and send them back. Then to hear the guy that does the work, has had them for two weeks and was not sure when he could get to them was enough for me to call it quits.

$900 in various pads, about $250 in shop fees, over $3000 in calipers, and still nothing.

So, the calipers, look incredible, if you buy their pads you may be happy. I wish I could have tried them because they look terrific. However if you have pads that you like, then forget the company.

I have never ever written anything negative about any company, however my advice to all the fellow corvette owners is this. If you use their pads, you may have a great product. If you like a specific pad, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

So what are you doing with the Red Devil Calipers? Just wondering, that is a lot of $$ to have just sitting around not being used or seen.
