I learned how to drive on a stick. I had a stick shift car till I married. I bought the A4 so my wife could drive it occasionally. I am NOT sorry I bought the A4. When you get to be 57 years old let me know how YOU feel.
Drove standard for about five years, didnt mind it then. Was commuting the whole time. Got a company car (automatic) drove that for about another five years (still commuting).
Was retired when I got the vette, for the type of driving we do, wanted the A4, never looked back. Love it.
If I had two, the other would definitly be manual, but to tell you the truth, I dont get to drive it the way that I would enjoy the manual that often. I miss it when Im pushing it through the twisties, but that just doesnt come up that often.
Mostly just around town, or on the highway, I just love driving this car
i had to buy at that time and the only thing that i really HAD to have in a vette was to be black on black.. i dont do tan interiors. and the computer can shift faster then i can anyway
Drove stick when I had my 1991 Beretta GTZ (loved that car), but when it was time to get my first vette, my shoulder was shot and needed rotator cuff surgery. Maybe when i get my C6Z in a year, I should be back driving stick again.
I know how to drive a stick. I got an A4 because that is what I wanted
Additionally, I have bad knees (After almost 20 years of Army service ) I learned to drive manuals on 2 1/2 ton Army trucks so I can drive one, just don't want too. That said, I can understand why some folks don't want an A4 Vette but the fact is most Vettes are autos because that is what the majority of Vette owners want.
I'm 57 and been driving stick shifts most of my life. I have made millions of shifts, not thousands. Now my truck and Corvette are autos. I like shifting from P to D and sometimes P to R and then to D.
I would guess very few A4 Owners do not know how to drive Stick. If you are buying a Corvette, most likely you have a history with cars or at least know a little about them. Alot of the time its a comfort reason, and thats why we chose to drive an Auto. For those who say its not a Corvette unless its an M6 How many M6 do you see at the track running in the 11's ? To be honest, I have no excuse to drive an auto, I am young, live in the country, and know how to drive stick, but an automatic just seems right for me
AWESOME user name, rock on!!!
I agree most of us have had several cars and my brother gives me $hit about my auto all the time, and like I tell him. I drive in the city DD, and it does get to be a pain in the butt IMO.
My next one will be my fun weekend car so then I will go for the manual.
My old '77 CJ7 Jeep is a stick and it is fun to drive but I wanted the Vette for a daily driver in the summer and for road trips so I bought an A4 with 3.15 gears.
I was taught how to drive a car on a '56 Chevrolet 210 Post,4 speed in the floor. The car was a 327/365,very fun to drive...lots of attention!!!But for a car to cruise in I wanted something I didn't have to worry about changing gears in,all I have to do is put in drive and enjoy the ride!!!!!!!
My car is a stick but it is not as much fun as it used to be for the trouble. So next vette will be an A4 and likely a C6 with paddle shift just in case.
