Tracy, it looks like it is the ring gear not the hardened shaft I first thought. I got it in the air so I could turn the wheels. You can hear all the racket in the diff just turning the wheels by hand. It will turn sometimes an inch or sometimes a full revolution and then hang up till you reverse spin the wheel then it frees up again. Pieces getting caught in the gear teeth.
That is a new RPM unit... maybe 15 runs on it..supposedly was ready to rock but broke anyway. I don't know of anyone with a stronger setup. I need to find a case as this one already has all the goodies I could get..even went with the newer 30 spline. I thought it was as bullet proof as it gets.
My buddy here with the Yellow Trans workS on these all the time. He is going to help me out with the swap unless I can get Rodney @ RPM to help out.
Pit
RPM is first class but It dosen't sound like anything they did. I have several cores here......take the back cover off (very easy) and verify it is the ring gear. We stock Motives most of the time, but no 3:90's right now. Have 3.42's.

Call me on the diff if you want it for the case.
Will do..thanks. I am slammed till next weekend and I will pop it off then give you a call.
I agree they are first class..I don't think it was anything particular they did either. The vendors buy parts that can be good or bad..and then they take the heat when things break. I was hoping to maybe get a price break since it was pretty dang new. That doesn't hurt them...just good advertisement.
