Default Export a C5 convertible.

Hi, I´m Alex, from Spain. I want to buy and export a 1998-2002 Corvette convertible to Spain. But i have a little problem...in spain we have a restictive emisions regulations. I need that the corvette be Tier 2, bin 5. But i think that the corvette C5 it´s only Tier 1.

It´s possible convert the corvette to Tier 2? What i can do? Change the cat?

thanks to all!

I imported my US spec Vette into UK.

I thought European standards were all the same. The US emissions standards satisfy UK Regulations.

Sorry but I'm not familiar with Tier 1 and Tier 2.

In UK Tier 2 is being phased in for 2004 owards so only the last model C5s would be affected. For earlier models Tier 1 is fine.

I would have said that would be the same throughout Europe

hi deegee!

The problem it´s that i need Tier 2, because one corvette tier 1 it´s impossible to matriculate:

"If the car was registered in Spain, before 2006, there is no problem, the car have plates and no problem. All the cars that not fulfill EURO4 (TIER 2 - BIN 5 or LEV II) imported after 2006, coud not be registered to drive in Spain"

But....what about "California LEV - 2", are the C5 california lev 2?

I agree with Dave - I also thought that European standards were all the same.. When I registered my US-spec C5, all I had to do was to get an equivalence certificate (not sure if that's the right translation) for the emissions. I got mine from TÜV, in Germany.

Thanks for your replys!

FinnZ06, i suppose that your C5 is a Z06. When did you import it? Germany and Austria have a different regulation for the US cars. I think that the Z06 ist tier 2.

I have these codes:
NA3 Emission System, Japan
NA7 Emission System, European
NB6 Emission System, California, Tier 1
NB8 Emission System, CA/Northeast Emission Override
NC1 Emission System, California, LEV
NC7 Emission System, Unleaded Fuel(Export)
NF2 Emission System, Federal, Tier 1
NF7 Emission System, Federal, Label
NG1 Emission System, Northeastern States

What these codes NA3 or NC1 mean?

I have some problems with english!

I imported two C5s last December - a 2002 convertible and a 2004 Z06. I got the emissions certificates for both of them from TÜV. You should give TÜV a call and find out if they are able to help you out.

Where did you get those codes (NA3, NC1 etc)?
