Default Heated seat switch pics

On my theme of finally posting pics (what a dumb *** I am) here are a few of my heated seat switches that a few people have asked for.
I like the set up as they are behind the door.

I did the heated seats the same time as the insulation, so that made it much easier. It took some time, but not bad.
I know some people have said they tried drilling out the ashtray door with no luck, the door fractured. Then you can just make a plate to go where the door is. I figured I had nothing to lose by trying, and mine didn't crack. I love this set up. The switches are usually behind the outer door. I should have drilled out the sides a little bit bigger, but it worked out ok.
Those close up pics show up the scratches, but in real life they aren't visible.
Heated seats are outstanding.
We use them so much of the time.

I installed the same kit. With sport seats it is easy, can be installed without removing the seats. Back comes out easily. (See the Vetteessentials web site for directions installing seat covers for directions, they are forum vendors) Bottom can be accessed by pulling two hog rings on the bottom and lifting the back of the leather up. Do the passenger seat first, it is easier to see the bottom with a mirror to grab the hog rings with pliers. Move the seat all the way forward, put a small mirror on the floor under the seat and use a flashlight. Great upgrade.

Replace the hog rings with zip ties to put the bottom back together. Can cut the bottom element short and put it up to the first velcro, don't disturb the velcro and the seat will keep its nice tight fit. Can open up the velcro and put the bottom element all the way to the front but the seat bottom may lose the look of tight fit. I cut mine short and put it up to the velco and it works fine. NOTE: I used the kit that allows cutting the element (The one with the lighted two way round switch on the auction site.) Your kit may not allow cutting.

A 3/4 hole saw will cut the holes for the switches. I mounted mine where the ashtray used to be before my double din AVIC Z2 install leaving a nice flat space there.

The seats are so easy to remove, that I would think it would be worthwhile just to make the installation of the elements easier.
It was so easy that I have thought about doing it just to do a thorough interior cleaning. I haven't done that though.

Steve

I think yours worked out even better. I like your faceplate

I have a bigger piece taken out at the rear but the front is not as sweet as yours.

Agree on your assessment though. This is the best mod for a Vert. Even in Vegas it extended the top down season.

I've gone through two iterations of seats with heat and wouldn't do without them now. Two winters and they have been very enjoyable. Installing the switches in the T/C panel took a little creative modification to the circuit board but I fit them in between the vital printed circuits with no issues. Easy to see why the C6 offered these from the factory. Now they are offering kits with a cooling fan as well for summer use (hmmmmm)....

^^^^^I really like how you did the switch on the install and in South Texas we do not need heaters, but if I did the mod I would put the switches where you did

Nicely done. Perhaps some day if I keep the car long enough I'll break down and put heated seats in it.

TOOGECKO's installation is really neat but it doesn't work for those of us that have the selective ride control switch in that position on the AH Panel.

Heated seats...we don't need no heated seats in the desert! Now, cooling seats on the other hand. To the OP, nice and clean install.

Member Deegee was from Nevada and was a help to me when researching this mod.
His set up is basically the same as mine, and better in some ways. Either way, our switches are behind the outer door and a great arrangement imo.
Mass. Fla. Tx. I don't care where you are from, these things come in handy.

I fitted mine when I was still in Vegas. It meant I could drop the top on those Winter mornings when it was 40 degrees but bright blue. I probably used them as much in NV as I do in England

BTW, the vendor I used sells cooling seats as well

I cut the back off the ashtray to run the wires and then glued a piece of lexan across the front of the ashtray and painted it flat black to match the interior. I like how it turned out, and the GF really likes this mod.
