My father bought the '01 a few years back cause he'd always wanted a convertible.... hated the road noise (selective hearing, I swear... 
). (I bought it off him, noise doesn't bother me. 
)
He ended up looking into a Mercedes SLK until he test drove a few and labeled them as overpriced, under-optioned, underpowered, POS's.
He just bought a XLR and *loves* it, and I have to agree that the retractable hard top is a rather bad-*** option to have.
