Default C5 2004 Millenium Yellow Vette

I thought I had introduced myself but it was on another site --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well I had a 1979 White longnose that I bought in 85 from a Army buddy who was going to Germany and did not want to ship it over there or leave it here. So i paid him $4000 for it plus my 71 Chevy truck. in 1989 while turning into a club parking lot I was hit headon and totaled it out. Been wanting another ever since but I had been bitten by the import bug mainly Mitsubishi. I bought a 88 Figi Blue Conquest(still have it with 82k on it, being totally rebuilt from frame up). In 93 bought a 93 3000GT VR4 but when wife and I bought a house with land and horses I had to trade it in for a Chevy Crew Cab 4x4 dually. Was injured in 2002 in Afgahanistan medically retired got divorced so in 06 bought me a 98 3000GT VR4 and last thursday bought me a 2004 Millenium Yellow Vette with 19k on it for $24k TTL, warranty, lojack, theft recovery, tires replacement. Had gotten my 4 years of VA back pay they owed me.
Well now I am buying mods for it so I need to know what is the best aftermarket cold air intake, muffler system and anyother things you experts might reccomend. THanks,Gary
Pics and will post more when batteries are recharged and rain quits

Welcome and thank you for your service to our country. Sounds like a rough few years with the injury and divorce. Keep the faith and save the wave! Best of luck now and in the future. Ron

Welcome aboard, well I was in the Navy afterall But seriously, nice buy on a nice coupe.

As far as your question, for cold air intakes, most swear by the Varam and I've seen some good prices lately, winter being the best time to find deals, so hurry before spring and mod season Officially opens, lol. I have a Vortex which I really like and it's less expensive, yes you have to cut the shroud, but it works nicely and I like it.

On exhaust, your gonna get the gamet as far as who likes what....best advice, go to a meet, local event, cruz-in or vist LS1sounds.com I think, or just u-tube and search for what you want to hear. It's really personal so you'll never be happy unless you hear it first. Be inquisitive about the rest of the system when you hear one, it'll make all the diff if they have headers or not, cats or not, X-pipe or not. I have LGPro LT headers, X-pipe, high-flow cats and behind that a B&B PRT and I Friggin LOVE the sound of it. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6gB8YaKruo

Being a 2004 you've already got the LS6 intake so after that it's a cam and heads, if you're looking to spend your mod money on power. If you're after bling I can't help, I fit the first catagory

BUT FIRST...... You got to do the Free mods, among the first is, you got to fix that stance!! That tire gap is killin me Do a search, there are several very nice write ups on how to lower your baby. I just went to all the way down on the front, didn't cut the bushings. Lowering bolts in the back, not all the way down, just enough to make it almost level with the front. Just right.

That should give you info and reason to ask about another 100 questions before you really settle on where to spend your hard earned cash. And you should, there is a hugh aftermarket for the C5 and some of the best deals you'll find will be right here from the forum sponsors, keep your eye out for GP (Group Purchases) there are some good ones every now and then. Most of all there's an INVALUABLE amount of info, knowledge and good people out here that will bend over backwards to help when you need it.

Welcome again, SAVE THE WAVE

Thanks to all for your comments and advice. It is not wise to lower your ride while living in louisiana because next to Alaska our roads are the worst in the US. In Alaska at least the snow helps cushion the impact.
I was looking at going with the VRAM but pobably use the Blackwing or the K'N.
Mod wise I will probably do mostly cosmetic, but definetly exhaust, tuning and some power.
Thanks agin for makng me feel at home. Gary

My 03 didn't stay stock for long. The first mod was the addition of Borla Stingers followed by cam, headers, tune, lowering and most recently the new wheels and tires.

Enjoy your new ride!
