What's Up--remove Key Wait 10 Seconds

I have one rather large problem when it comes too doing a search--Not a clue how to do one.Kinda have limited computer skills and only know a little more than the basics when it comes to poking around the forum.I've learned a few things,, but there's a whole lot more that I don't know compared to what I do know.I can rip a big or small block apart and put it back together, but computers leave me somewhat bewildered. So all I know how to do it is ask questions.Bingo bright idea---How do you "Do a search" on a topic?

Advanced search works well too... try different searches in different ways.
I forgot to mention that the post it note I said to look at the top of the page for is actually in the C5
Tech section. Good stuff in there.
So if I'm in the garage working on the car, I get it a lot because I don't pull the keys out while I'm moving it in/out/around the garage.
CLB does not fix the pull key message.

First of all, the template that the forum is using does not have the best search engine built into it. Thus, you may have to search a couple of different ways in order to find the data you're looking for. With that said, using these searching instructions will help you anywhere on the net, especially if the search engine you use works properly.
Search engines use the Boolean logic method for gathering and returning data. The operators "and" "or" and "not" are the filters that determine what data you get back after searching, and whether or not that data is relevant to your search. Those operators are normally represented by the mathematical symbols + (for and), - (for not) and a space for or. Instead of explaining it in detail, I'll just give you some examples.
1. Searching for a 2001 red Corvette will bring back every page with the words 2001, red, and Corvette. The reason why is that a space between each word is the same as typing the word "or". Thus, 2001 red Corvette is the same as 2001 or red or Corvette.
2. Searching for a 2001+red+Corvette will bring back every page with those 3 words on them. That's because it is the same as searching for 2001 and red and Corvette.
3. Searching for 2001+red -Corvette will bring back every page with the words 2001 and red, but NOT the word Corvette. The minus sign denotes that you do not want a page with that word on it. This comes in handy when your little girl searches for Barbie but you don't want all the **** and crap to come back with the results.
4. Searching for "2001 red Corvette" will bring back every page with that exact phrase. The quotations mean that you are searching for an exact phrase. Thus, the only pages that will be returned are the pages with that exact phrase on it.
Using the above will cause your search to return data that is more relevant to what you're actually looking for. Like I said before, the search engine built into the forum is a little flaky but it somewhat works correctly.
That's it for class today. You may now return to your regularly scheduled thread.

I'm wondering if either of your cars have had any of the dealer fixes done to them (fix a or b)? I'm thinking the guys who went straight to the CLB and didn't let the dealer do anything to their rides never get the pull key message. Could it be?

I learned a lot from your search tutorial.
Now, the "wait 10 seconds" issue. I am beginning to think that GM screwed you guys up more than fixed your C5. My car went through the column lock BS and I did the steering wheel jiggle and changed my battery and it was fine until I received my CLB. After installation, that is the last problem I have had. My 2000 never had the GM "fix". If your car is in hibernation, I would be tempted to send my BCM out to be reprogramed by one of the tuners on this site. I am not an expert, but I do recall that there was a tuner that will return your computer to default but erase the column lock process entirely. Some other members might have more info along this line.
PS. BCM I know the cm is control module, what's the B stand for

PS. BCM I know the cm is control module, what's the B stand forI agree I would rather have the BCM the way it was the day it rolled off the line, but unless you can find me a dealer willing to do that, or get HP Tuners to work on the BCM, I think I'm screwed...
Lame... thanks GM....
It's probably a coincidence but hey, if it worked, somebody else will try it!

The car needs to read the pellet on the key to disarm the security system. If wiggling it in the lock or changing the angle improves things looks like either the key is shot or the pellet needs a good clean. Or better still, use the other key.
When I bought my 99 it's obvious the previous owner had the recalls done because my steering column won't lock. I don't know why I'm getting the message but it is annoying and I'm afraid sooner or later it's going to bite me in the a** but what other option do I have? I could take it to a local dealer but I'd just as soon stay away from them. Installing the CLB at this point would be pointless as it doesn't address the fuel cutoff issue and besides my locking plate was removed
What to do
Who knows?
After a couple minutes all was good. I noticed one thing about today that might be a coincidence or it might have merit. I had my key in my pocket with my bluetooth headset (it was on) all day. Must have turned it on accidentally. There is a little battery in that headset.
Is it possible the battery in there goofed with the pellet in my key???
It has been starting fine since then.
