Actually, lifting off the throttle fast in the described situation above actually throws the weight of the car foward, causing even more rear movement, especially if you don't have active handling.
That's why you never hit the brakes or shift in a corner as you unsettle the car.
Say what? Not if your moving in a straight line and the rear end snaps out, all you have to do is lift the throttle and it will snap right back in line. All you have to do is lift the gas. Your front wheels are still tracking forward in this situation(assuming you've countersteered as you should in this situation) and once you lift the gas the rear wheels will snap right back in line with the front.
Lost the rear end once changing lanes and giving it light throttle. Not sure what happened, but it slid out DAMN quick.
I either do not have Active Handling, or it didn't do a damn thing. My *** end was in the other lane and the car was at a 45degree angle at 65mph.
The only thing that saved MY *** that night was somehow keeping my wits and lifting the throttle as fast as I could to snap the rear end back in a straight line. I was lucky...period.

Try it.
In your first post you never said that you counter steered only that you took your foot off the throttle. If you only took your foot off the throttle like you said the end result would not have been good.

BTW, have tried more then a few times.........
Ah, I just kind of took that as common sense. Didn't know the obvious had to be stated. I mean hell, that's extreme driving basics.
I should never take things for granted in this forum, it's members never cease to amaze me.

If I was in the road racing section yes, over here you have to be a little more specific.
No one is a mind reader of what you are thinking. That would be like receiving instructions on how to put something together and they left out the most important item (i.e. turn off the power before working on any circuit) however they just assumed you knew this and told you to disconnect a switch that had a live wire running in it. :
Assuming someone knows what you are saying or did is foolish. If a novice did what you said earlier they would have crashed.
I love the traction control/active handling on the corvette. I had a 2002 M3 and the DSC was very invasive it would dethrottle and brake it was nasty. Caused me to curbcheck when I thought it was off and it wasn't.
