I've found the circular strokes help the cornering ability resulting in a 0.07 increase in lateral G's.

Hey ET, I'd come over and cut your grass if you let me ask questions about the Vette while I work!

I know how frustrating it must be to banter back and forth with those having inferior knowledge but hopefully your passion to share will meet with our passion to learn. Personally, I'd pay to glean some of the knowledge you have. I hope that if you ever see me post or follow incorrect information that you will jump in and steer me in the right direction.

Hell, you don't even have to be nice about it either, just help a poor soul out! Mad respect for your knowledge.

to ET

I would never have dreamed that I could have gotten the car on a teacher's salary.

ET,

Guess I missed out on all the bloodshed in the past. Even though I just found this forum less than two years ago, I have owned my C5 for 7-1/2 years now and plan on keeping it until I die (even if I eventually get something else).

I have had quite a few "new" Corvettes over the years (got through college building custom Corvettes) and had finally lost interest in them after my last C3 (not that the C4 was bad - just did not ring my bell). As soon as I saw my first C5, I knew this was everything a Corvette "should be" in my mind and had to have one - it was a completely new direction. To me the driving experience is nothing like I had with my previous Vettes. I have driven my C5 virtually every day and I still get totally excited EVERY TIME I get behind the wheel. Taking ALL factors into consideration it is the best vehicle (for me) that anyone foreign or domestic has ever produced that was affordable and possessed some degree of practicality.

Personally, I wish they had a "dedicated section" on this forum just for posts from the "undeniable experts" such as yourself that had a ring-side seat to this car's inception. Then people like me could go there and get qualified information/opinions directly from the horse's mouth. One may not agree with all they read in that section, but that would at least represent the voices that forged this creation and, disagree or not with their posts, they would give valuable incite into the birth and development decisions that really made this car what it is. Without that valuable "qualified" voice expressed, all that is left is a sea of varying "opinions", "voodoo solutions" and sometimes blatant mis-information to wade through which is hard to validate until it is too late. I am sure that people like myself would place a heavy weight on such knowledge as only people like you can impart.

I feel your frustration as I have about 70+ (mostly corporate) clients in my current profession. I have been designing and engineering things most of my life - that is why they hire "me" to begin with because of my "experience" and "track record" supposedly - and yet after hiring me to do what they already have admitted up front that "they" could not do on their own, 75% start out by questioning my suggestions! Bottom line, most of the remaining 25% who let me do what I think is right, end up winning awards for those designs, the other 75% only end up with what they managed to death. I would be lying if I said it was not frustrating, but it makes me really appreciate the other 25% that want things done right rather than trying to prove they are right.

Don't give up on the rest of us!

Thank you for the nice words, your user name rings a bell but not your avatar... I was not here all of 2007... I had enough of all the agravation... I made up my mind not to come back..it took the combined effort of several hundred members and almost five hundred emails to get me back this past Christmas.. Ans to think when I left here fifteen months ago I figured I would be forgotten in a week. It was a very humbling experience..
Anyway, there are many areas of a C5 I know very little about, but there are areas I am an absolute expert. They are the areas I post in. They are the areas that I have done battle in the past. So I do not "Guess" at any solution. I may offer a guess to a solution but I will al;ways qualify that. My frustration was all the bad info here, and I took it upon myself to be judge jury and executioner...My health told me this was not a good thing to do.... so I left this forum.. while many loved that Evil-guy, he wont be getting in anyones face. I'M not selling out or was not threatened in any way... when I left here 15 months ago it was my own self imposed ban, no one suggested it or forced it.
The minute I decided to return, the ban was lifted without question...
The trick was to somehow give the help that I was known for without having to do battle.... I felt as though I always had to defend my credentials.. Any I wont bore you anymore because the one thing Ive learned is that I dont have to defend myself here. It would seem lots of people have my back, and I thank the many hundreds of people who have emailed me and PM ed me.. I'M sorry I can not be all knowing, I'm just one guy in a sea of over 300 engineers and tech who have developed this masterpiece called a C5.
Thank you everyone for the vote of confidence
Bill aka ET

Evil, I hear yah, I am a "older" guy too and I prefer the straight talk from those like yourself who know and designed/built the car, glad you at least lurk sometimes and are open to PM.

Hey.....I'm a pretty good shade tree mechanic and have pissed off a few
"mechanics" with my accurate troubleshooting skills.......but.....while part of that is common sense thinking.....the other part is ...
L.....i......s....t.....e.....n.....i... ..n....g to good mechanics and asking the right questions.

Evil....you are a person worth listening to. In the truest meaning of the term.

I might debate witchoo....but in that debate, I would learn something, and help form my perspective in a positive way about so many things.

I hope you'll stick around....no more blood-letting here if I can help it.

Thanx for giving "us" another chance. Perhaps a new generation of posters here is ready for you.

Peace....
