Are there any Vette Engineers that are on this forum or other Corvette Forums? I have a couple of questions that I'd like to take offline for them. Nothing serious but more curiousity.
Evil-Twin is a retired GM engineer who worked on the C5. He pops up on the forum every now and again. Hopefully he will chime in. He is a wealth of knowledge
I get so sick and tired of always having to sugar coat everything.
Thanks everyone for the vote of confidence...after my 1 year hiatus from here... unfortunately its not the same forum that I left.... there are now so many wrong notions about this car...running oil at 170 degrees, running a 160 stat in the winter... this notion of 87 octane gas is ok....this notion of saying the oil has to reach 212 degrees etc... they are all jokes,, I find that several of my close associates come here just for the laughs..and all those who support these notions are the reason I no longer post here... There are so many archived post that some people call their own and other who just think its 1960 because their grand dad was their hero.. and thats the way he did it... people are using the wrong oil, etc.. the one thing I do see it there are alot of problems with lots of guys who follow their grand pops ideas, and there are many other with 200,000 and 300,000 miles and most of them have PMed me and thanked me for my input or asked my position on what some of the know it alls are supporting... I may be old but one thing Ive learned is I'm not going to try to argue with anyone over what my 250,000 dollar education has taught me ( Average cost of a SR. Engineer at GM with continuing education ).. and to GM engineering in general... everyone has their own idea of the right idea, unfortunately most of them are the wrong idea... I have been handling only in PM... but every once in a while I just have to bring out the Evil-Twin... he is a tough old guy but he knows something about this car.

Finally, someone with ***** that's not afraid to post.
Please, post more and hopefully you'll scare off more of these tight asses who still can't figure out what floor mat brand and exhaust plate will make their Vettes look even more tacky.
Well Mr. ET, there are whole new class of us ignorant folks here that could certainly use your knowledge. Glad to see you back.
And I would love to see a post with some of the most blatant misconceptions you see here. Even if they're not put in a list or anything, I'm sure we can organize them out for you

I'M sorry to you newbies here, Ive shed alot of blood here over the last 5 or 6 years, and I'm too old to stand up for what I know is right... Ive helped thousands here over the years, but unfortunately at a big price... that wont happen again.. so I dont post in open forum.. or maybe just once in a thread... but I dont argue with anyone any more... I see so much bad information being tauted here as fact its very sad... This wonderful car can see mosts users well past 200,000 miles and with a lot of joy...but unfortunately there are so many skeptics here and bashers of the very people including myself who delivered this car with a balance of Price and performance unequaled anywhere in the world... if this car was perfect, it would be well out of the reach of our target market and you certainly could not afford it...so you bitch about the cheap leather and the poor radio etc.....This car was target priced at 50 grand and in any other market this very same car would be 100 grand... build it in Stuttgart and put a Porche badge on it and its 120K. OK Ive said my piece. Have agood night folks.. pm me if you need some help...

Plastic not wood , inexpensive leather, OK sound system....$40K a true American bargain. I think that GM got it right. The price point is affordable to the general public. Sure nice heated leather seats, 9 speaker 300 watt sound system, real walnut dash, would be nice but at what price?? $85K?? Bill well done!!!
Bill
PS I'm an old timer both here on the forum and this planet

E-T. Don't be a stranger. You're right about the way the Forum changes but making sure that the stuff that gets posted is correct is the way that people learn. Having the experts around brings the rest of us up to alevel of knowledge where we can enjoy our cars but maybe save a few $$ on the easy fixes without having a dealer learn on our time. I learned most of what I know from you and BC and Patches.
I share your frustration at time. Seeing the posts with acid all over the wiring and PCM and then seeing posts that AC Delcos are great is the topic that does it for me.
Trust me, your input is invluable
Sorry about the post hijack but the OP got his answer. You were the "go to" man when someone asked for an experienced engineer.
