Default Headlights in the OVEN?

Has anyone heard of putting your headlights in the oven to make them clear again? If so, what's the proper technique of doing so?

Bake at 350 for 2 1/2 hours, or until golden brown, on a greased cookie sheet.

Seriously though, in my time here I've never heard of that, and there have been a LOT of headlight threads. Good luck.

If there is condensation inside the oven will dry them out. If the plastic is cloudy/oxidised the oven will do you no good short of melting the plastic to a point where it is clear. Of course you probably couldn't use them aymore.....

I had to put mine in the oven to split the headlights apart for my HID projector retrofit. Not sure if it'll do anything for condensation. I warmed my oven to 250 degrees, turned off the oven, and stuck in the headlights for 10 minutes.

I've heard of people putting their head in an oven but not a headlight. Although doing so could make your head light. Sorry, I just had to. Keep the oven for baking food.

We have an few ovens/incubators that reticulate air at work, and i bet that will keep a much more even effect on whatever you think will happen . There is also a muffle/Incinerator that goes up to 1000+ degrees Fahrenheit; I’m pretty sure that will take every single impurity out of the lenses.

I too have used the oven method to split open lights, but I did it on another car so I could paint the inside of the housings.

If you want to get rid of the haze, use polycarbonate polish. Look for a plastic shop in your area, most of them will have it in stock.

I wouldn't do the oven thing but I have used CLR in the green bottle, or a Powerball before on other headlights and both worked like a charm.

Haven't heard of the oven trick - I'd be afraid I'd damage the headlight.

Just to play it safe, find a nice sunny spot around the house and leave them there all day. that should be the safe way and if that doesnt work then stick em in the oven.

I have heard of putting a few things in the oven and head lights isn't one of them, They do sell a polishing kit that will remove the faded layer off the head lights. Never use it though...
