If anyone is familiar with putting a riser plate under their carb they know how seemingly silly things do translate into hp gains.
Remember the old days, you would flip the air filter lid upside down and it would expose the filter about a half inch and it changed the sound to BBBBWWWAAAA, instant hot rod, that was a groovy trick,

Old days???
The flip tie mod is live and well here.
Was that Impala the SS with the infamous 409 C.I. ? At min. it had a 327, I bet .
In any event a Impala SS is probably worth a few bucks. I went to the Petersen Automotive Museum last week end in L.A., Lowriders were the feature display , I must say the detail of work and money that goes into some of those rides BLOW AWAY the detail and money of those 3 hot Vettes on the page behind this, with all due respect to them .
The PERSONNEL guestion I have is WHY, WTF
Although the tapes showing cars jumping STRAIGHT UP, many feet, did look fun and funny.
Semon Ese,
(No hardcore lowriders would ever look in a Corvette Forum, right? , uuuhhh viva la raza holmes)
The answer is NO, on some cars it can cause decel problems and idle problems. The PCM was programmed with software that took intothe account the accordion style coupler and the smooth coupler will flow slightly more air but the PCM has already made calibrations to injectors/ pulse width, etc to add more fuel causing the car to run slightly rich. If your car was running rich to begin with is when the decel and idle problems occur.
If you do it for looks then be aware on some cars it may be noticeable.
Another enjoyable thread filled with things that make me laugh out loud. Despite the fact that the thread is 11 years old.. Looks are in the eyes of the beholder. 46 dollars is dinner for two... its not a lot of money.. if you like the look then go for it.. For me, No smooth coupler .I dont like the look. Everyone has different tastes.
