I bought a coupe because I liked the lines better and could still enjoy the open air driving. And the extra storage space does come in handy at times.

I bought a Coupe for a few reasons.

1. I always liked the fastback Stingrays and the coupe reminds me of them.
2. I live in Oregon and am okay with driving in the rain....need I say more?
3. I have a truck but still like the storage space of the Coupe.
4. Nobody will slice through my top.
5. It is a good compromise of "both worlds" but not the "best" of both worlds. With the top off, it's close to a convertible feel but there is a lot of wind buffeting which I hear is less of a problem with a 'vert. I don't have that all around openess like a 'vert, but overall, it's a pretty damn good compromise.
6. IMHO, the vert only looks good with the top down. The coupe looks good both ways....just my opinion folks...no flames please

I do like the idea that since your hubby has a coupe, you should go for the convertible.

For you....get the 'vert.

Welcome to the Forum Erin

I guess the answers didn't help much? As blacksedan87 said right up front, most of us will vote for what we drive

Have to say I don't regret buying the Vert for one moment. In my case I had to take an A4 to get the Vert and even so, I still think I made the right choice. I'd say go for the Vert. You just cant beat top down motoring. If you move back West even more reason. I drove the PCH a few years ago and the trunk has plenty of space for touring.

Best of luck with the choice

Erin, this is a very enjoyable thread, helping you decide what you should get; thank you for starting it, and welcome to the forum. Getting a 6 speed is a wise choice in my opinion. I agree with your husband, the car that you will eventually buy is out there. I also agree that you should not compromise on any of the options you want. I have two, a 1994convertible and an 02 coupe. Absolutely love them both. I love the coupe the best when I am driving her, and I love the vert best when driving her. That being said, you will have to make the ultimate decision, no matter what we all recommend. It is a personal choice. Since 1960, I have had 5 verts and 4coupes from 1956 to my 02. I feel very fortunate to currently own two, and back in the 60s and 70s, I also owned 4 C2s, two at a time; one vert and three coupes. Hardest thing I ever did was get rid of the 1966 427 vert.
What do I recommend? Doesn't matter, because you get to choose. The fun is searching for the right corvette, then driving and enjoying the entire experience. If you end up with a coupe, try to get one with both tops, glass and solid. I know that both of my current corvettes took awhile to find on the internet, and I had to fly to the midwest to get them both, about 8 months apart. But I knew exactly what I wanted and would not settle for a car that did not meet my specs. You still have plenty of time to look because you currently have a corvette, so enjoy your search.
I don't agree with your husband, I would ride in the passenger seat any time with you or any other lady who owns/drives a vette. Best of both worlds, ride in a corvette with a great lady. Doesn't get any better than this. But then I am an old coot, so ego doesn't enter into the equation. My only recommendation is in color; all my cars are red. The vert also has a red interior and a red removable hardtop. I agree with the post that the vert looks best with the top down, but the hard top has a classy look too, but not necessarally on a C5 since GM did not make them. Well, I've rambled on enough without giving anything to persuade you, so do us all a favor and let us know what you get, and include pics, we love photos. Good luck on your search.

I vote vert. More fun in the sun. Life is too short to not have a vert at least once.

have fun; Jim

If money isn't an issue, go with the 'vert since it's a real convertible and has the better roof line (no hatch).

A coupe is a compromise for those that think a FRC is clausterphobic and a convertible is too airy. Get the Vert.

Welcome Erin,

I have both, I like the coupe during cooler weather and the vert when it is warmer. There is no comparison between the 2 on a topless day, the vert rules!

A vert will also have a higher resale at a later date unless compared to a Z06 of the same year.

One drive will make for an easy decision.... Good Luck!!!

Erin,

About June when your snow goes away, get a convertible! Not much left here in Nashua, but still won't take slotcar out. Good luck in your search. Have fun and I hope you don't get too much more snow tonight.
