The "never driven in rain" clause is a selling point for those who really obsess about their car and its appearance. Generally, they have far less dirt and grime on the undercarriage, wheelwells, etc. and that just makes people feel better I think. Also, such a statement suggests the owner really babied the car.
However, contrary to the belief of many folks, these cars actually do not melt in the rain or snow!
They may not melt but do get water spots on them. I never drive any of my sports cars in the rain and never will.
It takes me too darned long and too much effort and too much back pain afterwards to even consider driving my car in the rain. It's sitting in my garage right now, looking better than it did on the showroom floor, and it's a 2001 with 23K miles on it. I drove it today before the rain moved in and then came home and cleaned it up again. No wonder my back hurts.
When it's sunny and bright, I drive it. I love driving it. But I don't like driving in the rain with any car. That's just me. I'm old, and it's hard to see at night, especially if it's raining.
But, like others have said, if it's your car, you can do whatever you want with it.
IMO, I think it takes away from the fun factor driving it in the rain since you cant really get on it. Also, have to be really careful if running drag radials. Other then that....it's just a car and the rain wont hurt anything.
I don't drive my car in the rain intentionally (have beencaught in the rain) for the simple reason that I drive the car for fun and it is not fun to drive in the rain. Plus it is a PITA to clean up.
"Not driven in rain" really means, "I've been saving it for the next owner" JOE
Or it could mean I drive it when I choose to, not just when I have to. I put 4,000 miles on my C5 last year, and only washed it twice! Just used detailer spray and microfiber towels in between times!

How silly is it so say that you can't enjoy your car if you aren't driving it? Mine is home in the garage right now but I can enjoy it due to the fact that I own a Corvette. I don't drive it in the rain because I don't have to. I have a beater car for that. To each his own.
Thought I would share some proof they don't melt in the rain. Although I did get a weird freezing issue.
It must having something to do with the Arctic White paint.

You realize there are thousands collectively groaning over that pic as if they were kicked in the nutz...
This furthers a point a guy at the dealership svc dept told me when I had mine in for leak repairs- " ... you know, these leaks are more common that most think- we just don't see many of them because most people don't drive them in the rain or leave them out in the rain..."
Also, for those who claim theirs have never been rained on- it's never been rained on during your watch. Save for those few who shepherded their cars from BG, chances are somewhere along the way, your car came into contact with some rain. I see them rained on all the time at the dealerships... Oh and if you're in Houston during the summer- good luck avoiding the rain and you can add Miami, FL to the list too!
