well we all know corvette are a lil pricey but i was just wondering what mods would give good hp gains with out having to breaking totaly into the motor so u say hood seal...eh its like 15 bucks seen them before i was thinking of getting that just to keep the engine compartment a lil cleaner..is that it for cheap mods...and u say a tune.,..take it into a corvette mechanic and have him tune it...not using for dragging or track but just for the every so often racing up on the stoplights i can pull a lil easier

Careful what imply on here (street racing?). Find a good speed shop in your area and have them dyno or street tune your PCM (after you get a good set of headers) or use one of the Forum vendors that do mail-order tunes.
Edit: LT headers are out for you since I see you live in the Republik of Kalifornia. A&A can't be far from your location and they are a forum vendor.

Doing things on the cheap also usually involves doing the labor yourself. You might in your searching look for parts that can be done yourself, such as headers that bolt on all the way back so you don't have to have them welded in. Gears is another great avenue for inexpensive oomph. You may be able to find a used set that someone has swapped out. You'll have to have the diff set up professionally, but the removal and install can be done on your own with simple tools.
Not a beat down, but I have to assume that the wheels under your car aren't the lightest on the block, and that will slow your car down; as will the 2 ton previously mentioned speaker box. I'm running a big stereo, so I understand the sacrifice of weight to power, but just keep it in mind.
A good tune can help out, as can a programmer like a Predator. If you do all your mods at once, a dyno yune is the better way to go. If you will be doing them little by little, look into a programmer so you can adjust the tune as you go. If you find a used programmer, be very sure that it's unlocked, as the factory won't unlock them for you at any cost.
yea the wheels are heavy but im not all into the lightest way possible solution i like those wheels thats why i have em ya know...and yea i would be looking into cheaper not saying cheap but cheaper mods that i could do when i have the time on the weekends or what not...so u say predator programmer...do i just plug in and then start tuning or what not too familiar
just looked up the predator and its made for 99 and up i have a 98 so what other chip would be good?
I wouldn't recommend a hand-held programmer with a canned tune and since you have a 98 the tuner you have will probably do more harm than good if it works at all. You have a good start if you are just looking to be a little quicker. Headers are out (California). As has been recommended to you, a gear swap might give you what you want (if you have an A4 with 2.73s then 3.42s would be a great mod for you. If you have a M6 then you already have 3.42s and then you can go with 3.90s) .
Go to reputable tuner (several on the forum that are in you state) and get proper tune (dyno, street or even mail-order)
02MilleniumVette was joking when he suggested the "performance hood seal" adds 5 to 10 HP. It does little if anything on keeping under the hood cleaner. I know I have one. Don't waste your money.
lol i figured...thx not sure what to save up for 1st but ill think of sumthing but i have a Q... the mass air flow housing is on the air intake correct i have a blackwing so does it come with a air flow housing for BW or do u stick stock one on? and if so is it worth it...its pretty cheap
