remote start device
You'd have to bi-pass the anti-theft system on a vehicle as complex as a C5. That's going to take a somewhat detailed knowledge of how the car's wiring works. I would recommend taking it to a company that regularly installs alarms and the like if you decided to do it. It would be worth the installation fee not to deal with the hassle.
It was cool the first week or so. In the end, I didn't use it that much. I suppose it would be useful if you wanted the car to warm up in the winter time. Mechanically, it isn't necessary for a modern car to warm up at all, so it's really more for the comfort of the driver. With gas at $3.60 a gallon and going up, I'll just wear a coat in the car.
If you want it, then go for it. Personally, I don't think I'll be doing it to any of future cars.
They also can handle the factory VATS system.
Since we have winters here; we use our remote starters almost every work-day morning to warmup and defrost the windshield. Then about May we stop using it until winter season approaches again.
But, I've never done a C5 before; though Yvonnes previous MonteCarlo had the same factory VATS system.
I'd suggest the www.BulldogSecurity.com model Deluxe 200 for all functions except for a burgler alarm; or the model Deluxe 500 if you want to add an additional burglar alarm.
Your C5 will require the purchase of a "791" module due to the factory VATS system.
Although this will allow remote - or - pushbutton start, you'll still need to eventually insert the ignition key and turn it to the "run" position before you'd drive away. So, with this setup you'd still need your keys.
I don't know if someone mfgrs a true "pushbutton start" drvice for the C5, that would eliminate ignition keys all together.
