It seems that they even have major haters in the U.K. The guy drove the Z like crap! They better wake up over there. The Z is banging on the door baby!!!

...and I thought the Porche's were overpriced and slow. guess not. That one looked fast enough to me. Also, the guy testing the cars looked like a rookie. I've seen better launches from a new 1/4 mile driver.

Really!?

Some of you are borderline delusional. The GT2 is CLEARLY much faster. Even with a clean launch and perfect shifts in the Z06, it's not going to come close to the making up the multiple bus lengths the GT2 put on it. It sprints away and keeps on going. Maybe the Z was sick, but no amount of driving was going to make up the gap between those 2 cars.

1st, let me say this, I'm not one of those people that believe that the Z06 is king of the world and worship the damn thing, it's just a car; albeit a bad a$$ one but a car none the less.

Now, on paper the cars are nearly the same, so there is no reason that the GT2 should have run off like that. Yes, even when the Z06 got a good start and had 1-2 cars on the Porsche off the line, the GT2 still came flying by. So either that car had way more than 505hp, thus a ringer, or that Z06 was way low on power. I believe the 1st.

I love all cars and a fair race is what it's all about. This one just seemed to be a setup. I'd love to own a GT2 and I'd bet it could beat a new Z06 in a road race, but I think it would be much closer than this "test" showed.

Look at the video, the Z never gained on the GT2. In a race you have shifts and optimal torque bands that cause a car to gain or loose car lengths but the Z just looses from the start to end. It's suspect in my mind.

M-m-m-m. Two Corvettes or One Porsche. Same money. Not a hard choice. Or maybe a ZR1. I'll take Vettes over Porsches every time.

Drop $15k in horsepower mods on both cars and which would win? I'd put my money on the Vette. That and get a driver who can shift.

I only suggest the power adder as the vette out of the box has plenty more power waiting to be released. I'd say the Porch is running closer to it's full potential out of the box... of course you paid at least 2x more for that extra power.

I'd still rather have the Vette and at least one other car for the price of the Porsche.

That's the great thing about the technology behind the GT 2. Grandma can get in and drive strait line runs like Ranger. I've never had a challenge where I could rub my magic steering wheel and have a Ranger pop up in my drivers' seat and do a run for me. So I had to learn to drive myself; but I'm no Ranger.

I chalk it up to better traction via AWD for the Porsche. It should've been a bit quicker, but not THAT much quicker. Was fun to watch though.

GT2 isn't AWD. Road test was clearly indicative of British predjudice, and the comments back it up. When there is evidence ALL over the internet of Z06 capabilities, for them to stake their reputation as objective journalists is just ridiculous.

The test driver had room for improvement, but that porsche was kicking *** even in the top end. It's also rated 25hp higher than the LS7 Vette, and is probably even more underrated than the LS7 is. Unfortunately German horses have a history of being larger than U.S. ones. But, who knows, maybe it had some tuning tweaks; on a turbo car of that power it'd be easy to turn up an additional 50+ HP.
