My wife always has black, before this one she drove black RX-7, black 300 ZX, says it goes with her blond hair. (all were 5 or 6-spd. she says no sports car should be auto). But then I get to keep it clean, not her.

Sure, I'll do it again. I'll just make sure I have a nice AUTOMATED garage to do the detailing.

My baby is definitely neglected (by most peoples' standards) in my 4th year of ownership... My first and second years, my right arm/shoulder were super-developed, and the car looked GOOD!!! After rainfall, I wiped it down. After a drive, I wiped it down. If it was uncovered at work, I wiped it down. Go to the store, wipe it down, get back home, wipe it down!

I covered it before the latest rain we got here, and saw the pollen-covered hand/finger prints from people who have to touch to look, and I didn't wipe it off first... I'm a bad daddy!!

But even now, with just a little wipe-down, she's still a head turner.

Black is very high maintenance!!!!! Washing it is not enough. You Have to detail it with every wash. I also see more scratches with every wash. But it DOES look nice after cleaning it up!!!!! It lasts only a day because it gets very dusty. I will not be getting another black car.

I would never do black again! I've had my black vette for about 4 years. Every time I wash or wipe her down, I see new imperfections. Seems like she is deteriorating right beefore my eyes.

PS: She looks great when she is clean (which is ALL the time!)

The only color I will ever consider is Black. To each his own, but if I minded washing my car I would get one painted dirt brown.

I had a black 64 coupe in 1969 and that was my one and only black vehicle. I will stick to red. Both my vettes and the blazers are red, my color.

Like Zilla, I have NBM and it's the same constant upkeep. My next one will probably be red or silver, even if those colors are slower.

Black is definitely high maintenance but if you look at the top two color ratings for C5s

1. Red
2. Black

I love my black C5 and would do it all over again.

What else would a person do in their spare time, but clean the Vette. Yes, Black would be on my next one.

I swear off black every few years but allways end up going back. Now I have a huge California Duster and use it every time I drive it. Also, after washing I find the California water blade does a outstanding job along with the leaf blower.
