I have had 3 C5's in the past few years. '98 black, '03 MSG and now a black Z06. The MSG was a GREAT color but I enjoy runnin my porter cable over my black Z and turnin it into glass.

Is black hard to maintain, yeppers!!
Do black cars show every little imperfection, yeppers!!

Does any other color look as good as black on a vette, Nope!

Kinda like a hot chick, high maintence, but worth the effort.

I too struggle with keeping my Black convertible pristine. I can spend hours washing and detailing, only to see the dust collect on it a few hours later. I don't get frustrated, but I do end up shaking my head sometimes. The two items that get used the most in my garage are the Cali car duster, and the Zaino gloss detailer for hand smudges.

I justify my efforts by the way it looks when I drive it down the road. When it shines theres nothing like it.

When I have made the statement that it's tough to keep clean, the best response I have gotten is, " I wish I had your problem, if it meant owning a Corvette".

Would I go Black again ? ........Tough call.

Black is attractive when it's clean My 02 Coupe will prove it but it is a job to keep it clean. I will never buy another black unless it is a ZR1.......

Mine is the first black vehicle that I really am obligated to keep clean (my other vehicle is a black z-71 and it usually has remnants of mud on it). I bought it right when pollen season started and that sucked. Lasted about a month. Thank goodness it's over now. When I drive it in the rain and it dries up, it looks like a train hit it lol. It looks awful. I have pefected the wash though and get the whole thing washed and dried in about an hour. Not too bad.

I might like a gunmetal silver color like spiral gray or one of the darker silvers, but the black looks great to me.

My rule for buying a nice car - I can get any color as long as it's black.

Nothing looks better when clean and something so nice I don't mind washing once a week.

It takes a special person to maintain a black car. I take pride in making sure she shines and black always outshines all the other colors :-D Id never change. Any other car I had in a different color, I always regretted not getting black.

Nothing looks any better than a freshly waxed Black Vette. Look at it this way It demands that you take care of it... anything less is abuse.

I also have a white vette and to be honest it is harder to keep clean that the black one. I am constantly cleaning the lower panels of stuff picked up from driving.

On my second black C5, had a red one in-between. Red stayed clean longer, much less maintenance, looked cleaner after half the work, etc, etc... Was never happy with the color, now I'm back in black. : Worth every second of work I put into it.

My Vette is white for this exact reason. I had three black cars including my last car and black is a pain in the @$$ to keep clean. I always say, black is the best looking car for the first 15 minutes after it has been washed.
