I definitely will not do black again! Even though my paint is in great condition, I've actually considered repainting it since it drives me so crazy! Even after spending hours and hours buffing out all the scratches, and getting it to the point where I'm happy with that aspect of the paint, I still can't avoid the fact that it shows every speck of dust so easily. I'll dust off the paint before I leave in the morning, and if I stop ten minutes up the road for gas, I'll already see a noticeable layer of dust on it! It just drives me crazy!
What makes it even worse for me is that it's my daily driver, even in the winter, so this is something I have to deal with every day. If the car was only driven once or twice a week it wouldn't bother me as much.
To me, black just doesn't have the same wow factor as a bright metallic color does also. I'd much rather have my car in something like Electron Blue or Magnetic Red or Atomic Orange, or a nice custom bright green (something like the bright green metallic from the 97-99 F-bodies for instance)
I have a NBM and I have the same problem as you. your besy bey would to get a silver car next time
Not really; it's more like "once you go brown, you won't go black."
Mine is also an NBM and it's a PITA to try and keep it clean without dust showing or swirl mards, and on my tail lights I have swirls from where I dry the car, but cannot get a darn buffer in there. Now I need to figure out a way to do it.
Same deal with my LBM color, dust seems attracted to my car for some reason... I detail it after every drive though, never can seem to get ahead though
My wife always has black, before this one she drove black RX-7, black 300 ZX, says it goes with her blond hair. (all were 5 or 6-spd. she says no sports car should be auto). But then I get to keep it clean, not her.
Now everyone take note of what JD did here. He mentioned his wife and then properly provided a pic. This should be made a sticky on how it is to be done when mentioning a woman in a post. Now allow me to run before the women on here come after me!

HEY! I am a cool vette wife. I love our vettes-my first was a 1978 coupe and my husband's, at the time, was a 1991 coupe. Now we just have the Z06...WHICH, I just made him buy stripes, blackout kit, and Borla exhaust. Next will be heads and cams. Sorry, just had to give you a hard time!

Black Shows Every Smudge, Every Scratch, Water Spots, and I Love To Clean The Car,my Next Vette Will Be A Different Color.post Back Owners Of Black Corvettes And Let Us Know If You Will Do It All Over Again
gorgeous when new and clean. Brutal after a few years and stone chips and scratches. There is nothing that ages the car faster than the color black.
'98 black daily driver. I'm retired so I keep it clean and waxed in my "spare" time which is like always! It has nicks, scratches, swirl marks, a few paint touch-up spots. Yet I still get comments no matter where I go on how good it looks. If it is clean and waxed all its flaws are oblivious to the gawkers.
I took it to my friends shop for an estimate for a repaint (black of course). He looked at it and said, "WHY! Save your money. It's a daily driver. Come back in a few years." My solution: Mr Clean (self drying) car wash amd Mothers Gold paste wax. I'm experimenting with Turtle wax liquid Ice over the Mothers wax. Even more awesome.
Black is by far the best color. I hear what you're saying though. I have to wash mine constantly and it does become a chore. I have a garage that I wash it and dry it in. So I have no water spots anywhere.

Black is awesome,yeah it's a PITA to keep clean but,if I didn't enjoy
detailing,I would've bought one with a different color.To me it's
worth the effort.
