Default Catch Can

I bought this Catch can from EE last fall and this is what it came out to when I opened it up and looked at the contents. I know I'm glad I got this can!

Well, I'm not a mechanic or an engine guru but from my understanding - the catch can's function is to catch the oil vapors ( not sure if it is the right term so don't quote me on this) that is produce by the engine - without the catch can it goes to your intake manifold which I'm guessing is a bad thing. All I know is I invested in this particular mod- seeing as how much oil the catch can actually caught -I'm glad I bought and did it. Again, I'm no expert so I might be wrong -anybody who knows more should chime in

Here's an article I wrote some time ago:

http://www.conceptualpolymer.com/PCV...oval%20101.pdf

,,,and here's what I'm running now:

The one on the right was previously an aluminum-body particulate filter. It is now a matching glass-body particulate filter to collect the liquid oil and water. The filter on the left is a flow-matched coalescing filter to trap (as you can see) any airborn oil that escapes particulate or brillo-pad-type filters. The combination is incredibly effective, as my outlet hose is bone-dry.
