In Arizona "the valley of the sun" in Phoenix the police will not ticket for limo tint but will stop you for the windshield being tinted but probably wont issue a citation.
The highway patrol will sometimes issue a warning but I have never been hassled for tint in 20 years and never heard of any friends being ticketed.
Looks good! I had my side tinted dark and got busted. I had to strip it off.
Used to tint the sides of all my black sports cars when I was younger. The cops in CA, especially the CHPs, have a hard on for it so I stopped doing that a long time ago. Giving them a license to pull you over, harass you and give you a ticket whenever they feel inclined started to seem pretty stupid after a while. The tickets aren't cheap if you don't get it fixed, and removing the tint, getting it signed off, then re-tinting just so you can get pulled over the following day and do it over again doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Tinting all the way around looks sweet on a black Vet or any black sports car, but as long as it's illegal to do the sides and the cops are going to enforce it, I won't be doing it anymore (the sides that is).
Thanks guys and looks like black wheels will be on order!
When I lived in Boca Raton, fl, I noticed cops dont care as much down there as well, heck my neighbor who was a sheriff had tinted windows on his patrol car. I think they're a little bit more relaxed about tint in the "hotter" areas of the country, i.e south Florida and Arizona.
The tint is illegal but its a chance you take along with the no front plate. If I get pulled over I understand the laws and wouldn't be shocked if a ticket came my way. Until then I'll keep the fingers crossed and enjoy the look and cooler interior.
Do cops have any problem with the black tailight covers?
As long as the lights in the rear emit a red light to the rear when the brakes are applied there is no problem at least in Arizona and a red light at night when the lights are on. My blackouts do both. If they didn't emit a red light I would take them off myself so no one would rear end me.
Ever since my oldest son was about three, I've had a medical permit / waiver to have the darkest tint available on the market because of a medical condition he had. The permit also covered the entire windshield. That lasted about 2 hours until I went back to the shop and had to have the windshild retinted leaving my center line of site untinted.
Let me tell you, its definately an acquired skill to drive with that dark of a tint or dark tint in general. Learning to drive at night was absolutely horrible and took time. To make matters worse the tint used on my cars had a slight mirror tint to it.
Noone could see into the car even during the brightest part of the day and it was so dark if it weren't for the untinted center of the windshild, I never even would have had to wear sunglasses during the brightest time of day.
In the 16 years I had that tint, would you believe I was stopped maybe ten times. Until the officers were shown the permit and it was explained to them the reason, they weren't very friendly about it.

We tinted ours 55% on the side windows and 8% on the back. 55% is legal in Illinois and have 3 vehicles that are tinted and haven't gotten pulled over. We can go as dark as we want on the back, but not on the sides. Any darker and the state police would definately pull you over.

In my judgement, it' not a question of IF, only a question of WHEN you will get a ticket with tint that dark. In addition, as has been pointed out, you probably are running a safety risk with the tint that dark.
