I tell my cruising buddies about the awesome gas mileage the vette has but none of them believe me. I usually get about 31-32 at 65mph on I-5 in the Sea-Tac area.

I get the same response when i tell my friends about the highway gas mileage in my Z06, which is 28-29 mpg.
Only one small detail,,Gas up and do the math,,I don't know about the highway only,,but local combined mileage the computer tends to be a little optimistic, usually about a mile and a half..That being said you would STILL be getting GREAT mileage.Congrats !!
Just did cruise down to Cali. 300 miles round trip average speed 80-85 mph and a few times at triple digits and my mpg was at 23! My dd civic gets me 30-32 around city.
In this age of emphasis on gas mileage, it would be cool to have a decal or something similar for the back window with the mph numbers up there for the world to see.
Like each of you, my friends find it hard to believe we get updards of 30 mpg on the highway, although as a practical matter, the DIC read out can be optimistic. Try determining your car's mileage the old way, zero the trip OD when you fill up, then next time use a little division to get the real number. Use the same pump and stop filling at cut-off for the best accuracy. You may be surprised.
Last time the wife and I took a 200 mile trip we got 30.6mpg according to the DIC. When I filled upt he gas tank and did the math it worked out to 31.8mpg though. The DIC was actually low.
Either way, it was 75mph for 50% of the trip on flat land, and 65mph the other 50% in hilly terrain. No winds. Pretty damn good.
Like other say though...nobody can believe it when I tell them. People just have no sense I guess of what gearing, aerodynamics and weight can do for a vehicle.

This is true for me as well, at least for combined driving. Gauge showed an average of 23.3 and I actually got 21.65 doing the math by hand. Either way, for what the car is... you couldn't ask for anymore!!!
