OK so 2 cheapy quick fix`s that have made an improvement I recently used:
1) My 2 50th emblems on the hood and trunk showed black plastic on the tips of the design wings, Quick fix: Hobby store, Testors silver paint in a pen tube restored those corners nearly good as new, $4.00
2) My black instrument pod frame rattled at the top, Quick fix: A piece of a business card folded over and wedged in between contact surfaces resolved that, $0.00
Wondering anyone have any other simple but effective quick fix's for other common problems ?
Nope. That stuff comes apart with very little resistance, and can be peeled off with your fingers.
Just be sure to use clear silicone sealer and NOT some sort of epoxy.
This is a must for people that take their interior out often like I do. The creaking was driving me insane.
GM interiors get really, really loose after they're disassembled a few times.
So its under all panels, on the clips, etc. No more creaking.
I know the tail light seal thing has been beat to death , but I posted a FREE solution in one of those threads. Take out your tail lights and drill a 1/8" or 3/16" hole in the very bottom of the recess for the water to drain out. When you put the lens back in, you cannot see the hole. The water drains out behind the bumper and down by the mufflers. There is nothing back there that can be damaged by the water, as it is all open to the elements anyhow. If you lay on your back and look up past the mufflers, you can see the bottom of the light housings. And, since the car is not steel, no rust! That's my "cheap fix" contribution.
the common mirror lost its memory (mirror goes to strange setting every time the memory function is invoked)
best part is that this does not cost anything but a little time.
step1 center the mirror.
step2 adjust the mirror all the way to the top and then all the way to the bottom (repete at least 5 times)
step3 from centered addjust left all the way and then right all the way (repete atleast 5 times)
step4 reset memory setting
step5 try memory recall (if it does not work corectly start over at step1)
turns out that the feedback sensors get cruded up causing false positioning of the mirror causing it to hunt for the setting. excercising the mirror cleans the sensors.

More Than Zero
Sounds like the fix for the electronic telescopic steering wheel that won't fully travel any longer. As I recall, you simply tap on the adjuster **** / button something like 5 times and then push down and then out to re-establish full travel. Following this procedure worked to get mine working fully again.
I glue all my panels together with clear silicone sealer. the car no longer creaks.
IF you are afraid of silicone, use small squares of Edead or some other type of Buytel mat. I helped my friend take apart his C6Z06 apart and every contact point had them on it. Works great

That is a fantastic idea! Why didn't I think of that? Thanks, David

It does, and is reusable, but its messy as hell and can get in your carpet/clothes/etc.
