Default spacers?

Will putting spacers say 1/4 or 1/2 inch effect the car any or cause it to become weaker in the suspension and break easier?

basically is there any down side to wheel spacers?

I believe they will have some affect on certain wheel alignment angles.

so other then an alignment, will it cause anything bad to the suspension, or the hubs or the axles or the anything like that?

I use 3/8" spacer with no problems. Do need Longer ARP studs and harden open ended lug nuts

as long as your studs are long enough for the lugnuts to get a good bite and the hub still holds the weight of the wheel or the spacer has it's own hub built in, your good to go.

from what i've seen you cannot get the adapters with the studs built into them with a thickness of < 1".

they're all 1" or thicker.

the ones with the studs built in are referred to as "adapters" and the ones without are "spacers".

if you need something that thin just go look on ebay for "wheel spacer" & whatever thickness you want and "5x4 3/4" which is what our wheels use.

i recently picked up these 1/8" aluminum spacers from ebay.

you can see the multiple holes which some spacers have. these holes allow different wheel stud sizes to be used. (e.g. 5x4 3/4; 5x4 1/2; 5x5)

You should get an alignment done before you put the spacers on and get one after you put the spacers on, Just for argument sake

If you put spacers, or different offset rims you will be changing the scrub radius, making it more positive-in the case of spacers. (Scrub= the intersecting of the center line of the wheel(camber line) and the SAI, in relation to the mating surface of tire and road.)
And a change in scrub radius has an effect on the Toe settings.
I believe a more positive Scrub radius on a rear wheel drive will give it more toe-out.

I could be wrong though.....

And that is why when you change wheels one needs to learn how to do your own alignments.

String, Calculator, Level, triangle, two tape measures HARDBAR toe plates. and a little time.
