Hey guys, I'm sure this topic has been generalized here before, but I was needing some specific insight between a couple of exhausts.
So I'm in the market for a used Borla Stingers setup or the Corsa Pace Car exhaust. If youve heard both on a stock C5, which is the louder of the two systems? I've basically narrowed it down to these two setups because it sounds like hardly anyone has had anything negative to say about them.
I'm just curious as to which is louder, as I really don't want to purchase a system which is hardly noticeable over the stock setup.
The Corsa on my old C5 with the Corsa xpipe was louder then the wide open NPP's on my C6. It's a great system and you have no drone as the Borla does no matter what any Borla owner will try to tell you.
I have Corsa Pace Car. I think they definately sound better than stock. They sound much different than the Turbo mufflers/headers on my Big Block Chevelle. Much more refined.
I don't know from experience, but I have bought several pieces from the Corvette Garage. It is located in Lubbock. The guys there are great. Very knowlegable and helpful. I think they could do it. FYI, if you can get your car up high enough (aprox 30") then you can easily change the exhaust yourself. I did mine in my garage.
In my experience, it is the complete opposite. My Corsa Pacecars were at least 2x as loud at WOT vs. the Borla Stingers I swapped on. The Borlas are louder at idle, however. I couldn't stand the high-pitched motorboat sound of the Corsas so I swapped on the Borlas. FINALLY, the car sounds like a manly V8 with the deep, bassy sound. It's like a new car again.
First vid is my idle with Corsas....
Next one is with Borlas and a cam. The camera didn't pick up the bassy tone, but it's insanely different now. There's a lot of drone at 1500 RPM, which is typical of a deeper sounding system.
I forgot to mention the best part... the giant Borla cannon TIPS are a lot cooler looking than the Corsas. Mean is the way these cars should look.

I could not agree more. I had to put on a Corsa Xpipe to get rid of the motor boat sound. Not acceptable if you ask me. The Corsa's were OK. A little too much pop of decel for me and no deep muscle sound. The only thing the Corsa's have going for them is no Drone. To me that is a big deal. I could not handle the Borlas because of the drone. Even if it is a little.

haha thats sad that I live in Lubbock and I haven't run across this place yet. I feel like a moron

You are exactly right. IMO, the ONLY reason to ever look into Corsa is if you absolutely have to buy a drone-free exhaust. I do admit that Corsas make the car sound 100% like a NASCAR near redline at WOT, which I loved. 99.9% of the time you are at crusing speed or idling, so I had to switch it up something deeper.
The NPP's I have on my C6 with the mild to wild controller drone a bit. It's ok because I can turn them off, back to stock with a click of a butotn. The ultimate would be a Borla that could be switched to stock like the NPP's and have the look of Corsa. One of these days someone will get this right for the C5. The C6 with the NPP's is this system. It's perfect in every way.
i had borla stingers as my 1st aftermarket exhaust. great on startup and WOT when you WANT to hear them.
the problem is i heard them ALL THE TIME even with i was cruising in 6th on my daily commute. it got old fast. plus they drone very badly right in your cruising RPM of 1500-1700.
the corsas indys i have now have ZERO drone and are very quiet in the cruising RPMs but wail like a banshee at WOT.
buy the stingers now and change them to indys later or just save the money and go corsa first.

If it is just a weekend driver you will love the Borlas. If it is more of a Daily driver the Drone will drive you nuts. Get the Corsa's. Don't get me wrong the Corsa's sound freaking awesome and are very very loud.
