40 HP seems very lofty. I wonder if that claim is on an otherwise stock motor? I remember when I used to have Mustangs... you could find dyno numbers for just about every mod.. They're not so easy to find for 'Vette. Does anyone have Dyno numbers (not from the manufacturer) for this unit?
Dyno will NOT tell the story here since the purpose of the ram is to compress the air into the intake WHILE MOVING so it cannot be duplicated on the stationary dyno.Stick your hand out the window at 80 mph and see how much air force is there ....all that air is being shoveled into the intake creating a pressure instead of vacuum conditions so more oxygen for a burn...
I love these install time quotes. I changed an engine or two in my time and it took me 6 hours by myself on jackstands to install my VB2. Second time would be faster but, like most mods, we are going to do it only once!
You definitely need the Cajahunde instructions. You will be amazed at the number of parts that have to be removed and replaced. And you MUST have jackstands or a rack. Plan on spending some quaility time under your car.

Did you use supplied instructions or Cajun's or a combo? I just read through Cajun's and am now intimidated by this mod even though I prob shouldn't be.
supplied instructions are good ,but basicly you do the following:
-remove the intake from the throttle body forward (no problemo)
-remove the top cover from the radiator (shroud)
-remove the big plastic piece in front of radiator (name?) it has about
7 screws on the bottom
-remove plastic piece from under the brake cooling duct on both sides
-now,they say to remove the fog lights from under the car-I've always done it thru the head light (up) after removing the plastic from them-your choice
-bend down the nose plastic, and get to the 3 screws on each side holding the stock plastic piece aroung the fog lights.
You're ready to stick the new piece in..

I just installed mine the other day, took only about an hour, but then again I have a two post lift in the garage...that helped a bunch. I've driven it for about 80 miles and have seen an average of 3 mpg's increase since install...looking to add LG pro LT's and then a street tune to dial everything in. Great first mod and would recommend to all NOOB's

If this mod really improves gas mileage by that amount, it might even be worthwhile for that reason alone. It would pay for itself after about 38 tanks of gas... which, for me is in about 40 weeks. Anyone else see this sort of improvement?

But I'm not sure it is quality time under car. I'm getting a new lift and wished I waited. It would have made it alot easyer.

Just do it !!! It is the best low cost mod to begin with. You will never regret it. It will take some time to do, but it is time well spent working on your own car.
JUST DO IT!!!!
The Vram is a great intake,, I just had one installed. You will not pick up 40 HP with it, on the stock tune. If you take it and have it professionlly tuned, you might get 20-30 HP depending on your particular car and how good your tuner is. Air intake mods are great, but are even better when you start adding Headers. cams and other things.
Still, yes, a very good first mod regardless. Good starting point.

I added mine after headers. catback and dyno tune, but you gotta start somewhere and the Vararam is a good starting point! You WILL be able to feel it!
and sitting at home while my bros are at the Lone Star Classic at Texas Motor Speedway!
z06 hellcat and I installed mine in about 3.5 hours and he had done quite a few before!

Exactly, very good point to start. I remember when it first came out , I drove a friends car , stock, we added the Vram and you could definitly feel the difference.
I installed mine myself and took at least 4 hours. The mechanic that installed my headers and gears said it takes him 3 hours and he does this stuff every day. I think folks are fibbing a bit on here. Anyhow it is not that difficult but I would count on at least 3 hours.

The Vararam is one of the best mods you can do on the Corvette! I picked up more than 3 tenths and 3 mph in the quarter mile with mine! And it's not only something you feel at full throttle, but it makes the engine more responsive at low throttle too. The stock intake setup just doesn't breathe in enough air compared to the Vararam.
I did it after reading anumber of posts that included tapes from the 1/4 showing before and after with 3mph trap speed gains and .3 second faster Elapsed times.
No other CAI has made those claims and had it backed up by several cusomters track" data
anyone know if the vararam will fit with racemesh fog light insert? .
Thanks..
Patrick
You mean the fog light screens like the Z06 has, then yes. It works fine. The ducts go in behind them. You dont need to remove them to install the intake.
