Thanks for the info. You seem pretty knowledgeable on snakes. We had a king snake for a while as a pet. My wife is a high school librarian and took it to school. All the kids loved it. We finally got tired of it and she gave it to her assistant.
I was looking at your buddys sandles and bare legs along with the coiled snake and wondered how far he could reach when he struck. Man where is the Croc hunter when you need him! Cricke Mate he's a little one.

Perhaps one reason the pics were so bad, I was definately not getting close to him.
That looks like a Bull Snake, or as it is also known...a Gopher snake, or the scientific term: 'Pituophis catenifer' family. You can tell them as they have a black band that runs across their heads from one eye to the next...actually very harmless, but they will bite. Copperheads that size are VERY rare, and the markings are all wrong...I've handled many Snakes over the years at the Sweetwater Rattlesnake roundup...99% of them will not attack without making an effort to escape 1st..the exception is a Water Mocassin, or a Cotton Mouth..those are agressive and will come up from behind and bite with no agression from your part to aggravate it. I hope you let it go as snakes are usually much more helpful than harmful...Bulls eat Rats and Vermin, thus they are often found around bldgs...
You guys should have caught it, killed it, and then skinned it and made it into a steering wheel skin lol
I was thinking the same but only if it was a RattleSnake and eat it as well. They taste good, taste like chicken
They have a RattleSnake roundup every year in Freer, Texas. I went last year.
Might check around the side of your car by the side of the garage you are hiding, I mean checking for an oil leak by! I think a snake might be hiding there ... Isn't that how it goes? I owe you one!
