Grettings Everyone. Need some assistance. Have an opportunity to buy a pristine 2000 MY Convert for around $30K. Good deal or shop around for later model C5? Also...never had a convertible before...I had a 98 coupe, but the convertible looks like a lot of fun and pretty sharp. Any pros and cons you want to share? Thanks all.
I've had none of the problems I had with other convertibles I've owned. With the roof up, the car is quiet. The finish is good and its easy to forget its a soft top. I don't have any squeaks and the fit is tight with no leaks.
The manual mechanism is excellent. Once you find the little button that drops it, its a 10 second operation. Its a bit of a pain that the windows drop every time but a window valet fixes that. The up side of that is that most verts dont suffer from window relay problems because the module is used regularly.
I clean and reproof mine about once a year and its still looking good.
The only down I can think of is that there are some blind spots around the 4 and 8 o c'clock with the hood up. Makes it a tad tricky on lane changes in reduced visibility . The mirrors are good so its easy enough to cover that problem.
Overall I love mine. I didnt think I could affords the extra for the Vert. Glad I found the $$. Best decision I ever made.
I paid a little over $28K for a 2k vert with 20K miles 3 years ago. Everything but the tires were like new. That's great low miles on the one you are looking at but $30K seem a little high. If it has all the options and maybe an aftermarket exhaust or some other goodies that would help. Good Luch
Just got an '04 vert with about 30k miles for around $30k with a 3 year GMPP. Yours sound nice, but high. You'll LOVE da vert. I still love my '71 but this one is jus' kinda, well, different.
The 2000 Vert can be found on the Corvette Palace website (Austin, TX). They have some great Vettes there - as I was down there a week ago checking on a C-6...but saw this 2000 Vert and I'm drawn to it. It doesn't look like they will come down much -- maybe $1K, but will need to have it shipped to Dayton, OH ($1.4K covered). Check it out. Most everyone seems to think the asking price is a bit too high for a 2000. But I can almost guarantee that those cars there at this dealership are pristine.
