A friend is looking for a C5 and will take any options as long as the exterior is red.
How important was/is the color scheme for you?
Would you pay extra for the right colors?
Would you wait months until you found the right colors?
Red is very common. I don't see any reason to pay extra for Red. I would pay extra for a rare color that I absolutely had to have or if it was too much, pay to have the color change done on the car.
I looked and waited to find mine. It was worth it to me, as I'm the one that's got to drive it. Looks are a big part of the C5 to me and color is part of that. I really love this color and get many comments about it. I probably paid a bit extra to get the options and color I wanted, but I'm please with the results.
Different people have different color tastes when it comes to cars. And some cars look better in certain colors.
I can't say I have a definite color preference overall (Although I have only ever had one black car and wouldn't have another due to the keeping it clean problem).
When it comes to "ordinary" cars I'm easy, biege, silver, blue, white, red, they're all okay.
But when it comes to a Corvette I have definite color "musts".
For me it has to be Torch Red/Victory Red or Pewter. None of the other colors appeal to me enough and I would wait months to find the exact color/car I wanted.

Vehicles are such a large purchase, that I would wait for one that appealed to me,and color is important. As long as it doesn't
have red interior and an automatic,I'd give serious considerations
to ones that were not exactly to my liking
Colour was important for me, but was quickly replaced by the condition of the car. I was looking for EB, MSG or MY before I settled on the QS coupe. Silver was not one of my premier choices since my winter car is silver too, but as soon as I saw the condition of the car, it didn't seem important to me. I quickly realised that silver is a real classy colour on this car. The car gets attention but probably not as much in that colour - something I've come to appreciate. As long as the car was mint and had a black interior I was happy!
When looking for mine I had 3 colors I was looking for. Red, Yellow, or Pewter, in that order. Guess what, I ended up falling for pewter. Mileage was a deterning factor also. Color is defenetly a personal preferance. I do not like white - don't care for the time it takes to keep black looking good - things like that.
Not sure what you are looking for or to pay, but I bought mine at the Corvette Palace in Austin Tx. It is owned by a husband wife team and they only deal in low milage cars. I was very satified with the way we were treated and the purchase we made. The website is http://www.corvettepalace.com.
It would be a little drive for you, but it could be worse, you could live in Hawaii.
"All corvettes are red" "Little red corvette" I waited a little while until i found just the right corvette. Although I would have taken a yellow one, i really just wanted one that stood out from the crowd.
I was impressed by Nassau Blue when I bought my C5, it is one of least produced colors (not super rare however). I like any color except white on a C5, jmho.

Color wasn't important to me as having good options (HUD, 3.15s, sport seats, Z51, etc.). I really liked the spiral grey or the blues but settled for black.
Color had some bearing on what I would buy. I was only looking at red, black or blue. I may have settled for yellow if the car was low milage and had specific options.
I found a 01 Torch Red M6 about a year and a half ago basically optioned out with 25k miles. It was actually the first one I looked at. After looking at three black, two blue and one more red, I went back and bought this one. I did find a few other with lower miles, but not any color I would want.
When buying a Corvette buy the car you want! Don't settle for a color that isn't your first choice, even if you need to pay a little more. I looked and waited until I found a Nassau Blue FRC as that, was my first and last choice.
Yes, color was a major factor for us. We knew going in to the search that we wanted Bowling Green and we looked for 2 years before we found the right one. Bowling Green is a relatively rare color on the west coast and we wanted something you don't see alot of. And we must like green - this is our third in a row!
I bought a White Vette 5 1/2 years ago as it was the cleanest, loaded with options, lowest mileage and most affordable of all I looked at in the 2 months I looked and also the oldest and I have not looked back since
Our little DD is gray,my F150 Super crew is silver and the youngest boy's Saturn is silver. Wife says she's tired of these colors. We stumble across a great deal on a 2000 pewter FRC.Bought it and love it.She wants to take every where we go now. Originally wanted Electron or Nassau blue, mag red, black, yellow all were in the running. But Pewter won the day after we got a good look. It really looked classy all clean and sleek looking. Live and learn!!
