Default Corvette Paradox

I know people have a few views on vettes but I think the following two can't coexist:

-Drive it like you stole it
-Keep em clean

I just spent way too much time cleaning mine, and drove it to work for a couple of days and it is starting to get dusty and dirty and for me living on the wet coast of Canada it gets dirty fast.

I like it looking clean, but I think I might do more of the driving it like I stole it than keeping it clean.

If I could stop the bugs committing suicide on the nose I may be able to do both with the good weather at present

Its a pain in the a.. I hate having it dirty and I almost feel embaressed when other see it. My neighbour makes bugs me that I don't clean it enough, of course he is retired and has plenty of time on his hands.

If I had to choose, I would rather drive it dirty, than to have it all pretty sitting in the garage.

Otherwise, what's the point?

Funny, but when I am racing at the track, no one seems to notice or care how clean the car is.

Absolutely, positively agree with the above statements. You can't take it with you is a true statement. Don't ask me how I know.

A happy medium for me,it's pewter, doesn't show dust much,,and I keep a (insert gasp here) a California duster in the trunk. a quick 30 second trip around the car and 90% of the time she looks pretty good and we're off and running!!

I had a Pewter Camaro..it was the perfect color....it could get dirty as hell and vever show the dirt....

When I bought my vette Pewter was my first choice..but then discovered that they stopped using the color after 99...
Yellow was my second choice...

Good choice to drive it more. You'll get much more enjoyment from it by being behind the wheel.

I solved this problem by just keeping a makeshift cleaning kit in my drunk. Just whip out the sprays, paper towels and shammoi, and it's clean again. Of course I'm a fanatic, and anytime I park when I get home I wipe it down a bit, just saves time from doing the entire thing from scratch.

But to answer the original question, I'd rather drive it for enjoyment, it can always be cleaned. I didn't pay this much money for a 3200lb paper weight.

Not true. My '02 ordered and bought new (I ordered Pewter just for this reason) is Pewter, but it was replaced in '03 with Metallic Spiral Grey, another favorite of mine. Looking at GM from past production colors we may see Pewter used in the future. As far as preference of colors they don't make Corvettes in a color I don't like, They're ALL good!

Mine is navy blue metalic, so it's a pita to keep clean and dust free, but I enjoy doing it though.

I was going to say,,Mine is a 2000 and it's VERY Pewter!!! Thinking of using spiral gray to paint the bottom rear fascia inset. Not sure as the wife doesn't understand why I can't "just leave it alone" and drive it. Can't give her too much crap though,,she found my first vet,,and gave me the go ahead to find a C5,,Gotta love her!! Women(for the most part) just don't understand MOD FEVER !!
