How much does an accident really depreciate a vette?
Some one hit me (sorry no pics, camera busted) All said and done - need new left quarter, new rear bumper, energy absorber, and impact bar - paint etc. about $2700 in damage. Pretty much an easy fix, but how much do you think it will affect the resale/trade-in value of my vette? I have a 2002 vert w/ 35500 miles.
No frame damage or the like.
Thanks for the input
Several variables come to mind: Quality of the repairs, if reported to CARFAX, if repair done by a dealer and it's noted in the GM Vehicle History Report, one or more might give a future buyer pause. Sounds like minimal damage, so recommend you enjoy the car and not worry yourself silly about it's monetary value -- the grins it gives are priceless.
Answer = it depends. Insurance companies will try to use 10% as a general rule, though I've seen as high as 40% in some cases. Do a search for my many posts on the topic.
