Hey, my house has gone down in value also, nothing you can do about it. Funny how folks were buying up everything at premium prices in 2005. I still like the C5 as much as when I bought. I think it needs more power though.
Who wants to buy mine. It's rare, pre-ordered from the factory. It's an 03 Z06 Coupe A4 and a special front end-one and only. It's got 19,000 miles with special 2 tone paint combo in the rear. I'm willing to let go for $50K. I paid almost $75K just to get a Z06 coupe A4.
Here's a pic
Well, auction prices are down, sure, because dealers are far more interested in filling their lots with the kinds of cars people really want now -- smaller, fuel-efficient models. It's just simple marketplace rules. I most dealers would rather quickly turn 10 efficient cars for $2000 or so per pop then try to get 4K on a vette that might sit on the lot for 2 months waiting for the right buyer.
I can't believe some of you are falling for this. This is the guys first post, he is looking for a deal. He thinks by posting this thread he will find someone to sell him a Vette for cheap.
Are you kidding me, fuel efficent cars, I get close to 27 mpg with my C5 Z06.
My buddy has been looking for months for a Mint condition C5 Convertible. Every weekend we have been traveling hundreds of miles looking for that perfect car. And every weekend we come back empty handed. He has looked at cars priced from about $20 to $32000 and still hasn't found that perfect car. Oh, and his friend is a dealer and has been trying to find one for him as well. Well today he finally found a
absolutely flawless 2003 convertible with 5200 miles, PRICE $33000.
I agree that these car have depreciated, just not as much as some people will have you believe. The Mint condition cars will always get there price, not everyone is bargain shopping. My friend could just have easily bought a C6 for under $30,000, he wanted a C5 Convertible and nothing else.
My experience here tells me to spot these kinds of post when they occur by observing a couple items, first just signed up and has no info in the profile, next it is one of their first posts, lastly they come on to the forum to trash the vehicle's value in hopes of buying one.
As the value of the dollar falls, shouldn`t the dollar value of a Corvette go up by a small amount? I am always looking at Corvettes for sale, not to buy as I already own a C4 and a C5, just because I like to look at them. I don`t see any more sitting around for sale now then I did a year or so ago. I get 27 mpg on the 2000 FRC, and my wife`s C4 automatic gets about 20 mpg. I don`t see me buying a four banger with 150 HP just to get 34 mpg!
Ok auction cars are not private cars, you are usually not getting a perfect car , which is why u r not paying perfect prices.
Not true. There are many perfect cars that go through the auction. Vette sales are dropping because people do not buy cars like Corvettes in an economy like we have now. New Vette sales are way off this year and price drops on them will drive lower prices on used cars.

Bill
Sorry Bill, I have to disagree with you. I buy and sell exotic motorcycles as a hobby, mostly Ducatis. Corvettes like Ducatis are just toys for most people, and you would think they would be the first to go in bad times. I don't see prices coming down at all, I'm not coming across any give away deals. Read my above post about my friend looking for a convertible for months, $33000 for a convertible is no bargain. I think most of us on this forum are above average income, and are not selling our cars because we are about to loose our home.
I don't know statistics about corvette sales being down, your probably right. I do know that when I bought my C5 Z06 last year, the original owner bought the car for $10,000 under sticker, which is about the same they are discounted now.
I was just reading in the latest Automotive Week, '08 Mustangs have a gas mileage of 14/24! My '01 Corvette does 19/28 (actually better than the window sticker numbers).
That is amazing that these so called economy cars get such terrible gas mileage compared to our big bad Vettes.
Thanks for dropping by 1rino56. Until the Supreme Court goes back into action the the laws of supply and demand are fully in force. In other words if I have too many of em the price drops if don't have enough of em the price will go up. Been that way for quite a few thousand years.
