For the past month I have been searching 01-03 cars for my neighbor. I travel the mid section of the East coast for work and have seen these values dropping off the charts. The vettes are starting to line up at the auctions just like the trucks, just not as many. Rows of cars sitting with no lookers. Dealers do not want them, so trade values have dropped way below $20k. To sellers, get real with your pricing! It is not what you owe, it is what it is worth. A 02 coupe with 50k miles will NEVER sell for $28,000, more like $18k. A quick look at ebay will prove this. Not many of the cars listed are selling and the reserves are way high. Again, if the reserve is what you owe, and it is high, forget about getting real offers. For buyers, its' a great time, but it may get better. In the end, I found a silver 02 z06 with 22k mi in mint condition for $23,500. I just wish it were mine now!

I agree that prices have been drastically dropping. And dealers really need to keep up with market conditions - there is an 02 vert here locally that has 56K miles on it and the asking price is $29.5. It's been sitting there a long time.

If you don't want to pay what someone is asking just move along and buy one in your price range. I would not sell mine for Ebay prices or a dealer with a lot full of them. So when you find one YOU can afford get it.
So What and What Is Your Point... I got my C5 because it was my dream. I drive it every now and then but most of the time is collecting dust in the garage. I don't really care if the price go down hill but my point is I got my dream car and most people don't, may be including you.

Sign of the times, because of the uncertainty of the economy people are hanging on to their money and rather then buy a new/used car their fixing the vehicle they have now.
at the end of the day they are our cars and if we ever choose to sell it is at our price. If some tire kicker thinks the vette shouldn't be priced so high let him buy a lesser car from someone else.
Hi, without wanting to get into a flame war about prices, and while I respect everyones right to their opinion, I think what the OP is failing to take into consideration is, that if sellers are asking what he considers to be unreasonably high prices, and they are not getting their cars sold, the buyers are also not getting to buy those cars, and that is the market. Some will take less and some will get to buy for less, but the ones that want more for their cars if they are willing to wait and not sell if they don't get what they are asking right away will limit the ability of prices to drop below supply and demand parameters.
Luck To ALL
I bought my '98 coupe 6 speed with 64K on it for 15,000 a week ago. The week before I watched friends buy early C5' in the same price range. The cars just aren't SELLING for much money right now. I have a beautiful '96 that I'm expecting to let go for way less than I feel it's worth. Just a sign of the times I guess.
I also bought my car because it's my dream car growing up. I could give two sweet phuqs about what people want to buy it for. I will be keeping mine as I grow old. Values keep dropping because of age and the economy that we are in. But, realistically even though the price might be cheap, it still doesn't mean that it is cheap to have one. It's an expensive toy and it likes to be pampered not including that drinks nothing but Patron.....
