Thanks everyone, I am honored to be among such a community of caring people. You guys are the best. I'm going to be at the hospital in the morning to meet his daughter, who flew in from Vermont this morning. Please keep Mark in your prayers! Thanks guys (and gals).
A drunk driver hit me head on while I was riding about 10 years ago, and I almost lost my right leg. I have had 14 surgeries on that leg alone and I can't count the hardware that's in there. I know the road he's going down, and I have felt his pain first hand. Tell him from one rider to another, I said to hang in there... it will get better
I am brand new to riding motorcycles, my first bike is a 08 Harley!!! I love riding, I have put 850 miles on my bike since I bought it June 7, 08!!! This thread freaks me out!!!
I hope your group member pulls through alright!!!! We will be praying!!!
Prayers sent for your friend, send him my best. I was involved in a hit and run on my Honda 1100 sports bike three weeks ago. A woman made a sudden left turn in front of me and I made a choice to go down rather than hit her head on. I broke my left clavicle, cracked some ribs and have a lot of bruises. I required surgery and now have some additional titanium parts. I am doing fine, very little pain and almost 100% movement.
Red lights are my biggest fear. What happened to your friend haunts me every time I ride. Going through an intersection scares the hell out of me. My next door neighbor lost half his left foot in a Harley vs car collision last year.
I was wearing full gear. Landed on my head and left shoulder. Had a full face helmet on and the left side has big scrapes on it. The armored jacket had the shoulder area tore apart ripping the seams and exposing the armor underneath.
It makes me cringe to see people on any motorcycle riding with just T-shirts and shorts. If I was wearing one of those cute little **** helmets a good part of my face would have been tore up.
Think carefully about what you wear when you ride. I think it's more when than if regarding accidents. Sorry for the rant but due to the recentness of my experience I have very strong feelings about this.
Rick
