Trade your c5 coupe for a C5 convertible, park it and buy a C4 coupe for a DD.

My C5 Coupe has been my DD for 8 years. I am thinking of getting another C5 - that way if something breaks, I can always steal a part from one and put on whichever one I am driving in a pinch!

Or just buy a C5 vert to go with the C4 coupe.

I have a Mazda MX6 GT Turbo (auto tranny) as a second car and I really like the contrast between it and my C5. When I was in Connecticut last year to attend my brother's wedding, I drove my sister's Miata. Dang, that thing was fun to drive - great gas mileage, turns on a dime and never needs repair. On the other hand, I think it'd also be nice to go in the other direction - a super quiet luxury car. To me, if I'm going to have more than one vehicle to drive, the two (or more) must be very different from each other. After all, variety is the spice of life!

Actually, now that I've thought about it awhile, I'm thinking of another option.

I've got a C5 A4 Coupe.

Why not a C5 M6 Vert?

On one hand, the C5 is a much better car. On the other, I've already got one, so why not get another generation?
I'm a black sheep, I'll take a C4 over a C5 any time. We have a C4vert, C4 coupe, and a C5 vert. My wife and I both like the C4's better. We are more comfortable in the C4, I like the handling better than the C5,I feel like I have more control in the C4. I've been in a lot of other C5's and they all feel yhe same way. Plus my C4 coupe will just run off and leave the C5. The C5 does have more trunk room, but we won't travel in the C5.

Yeah! I like that one too. Drive the A4 daily except on those rare occasions when my wife needs the car and then put up with the M6 on the commute.

But then I've got the M6 for weekends and mountain roads!

I would choose a low mile C4 Vert over a high mile or higher mile C5 Coupe. Not anything wrong with the C5 just a personal preference. I love the looks of the C4 convertible.

Now I get it Nothing wrong with getting C4 if it is in good shape

You did see the part about my price range being $17-$18K, and these were low mileage, right?

I might let it go for $18.5K. Higher mileage daily driver, but will have rebuilt LS6, all new clutch/hydraulics, and many other new/newer parts. Still putting it together, though.
There are plenty of decent C4s for under $10k (which is what I may replace my Z with). I liked my old '92, but probably wouldn't spend more than $8500 for another one... vert, modded, or 'cherry'.

Since you already have a C5, go for the C4. They are fun cars - just get the newest example of the C4 you can find.
